The Chemistry of VH

I was listening to Women and Children First last night. What amazed me was the feeling that I got when I heard again. You see, I haven't heard that album in it's entirety for a long time. The songs from that album were so energetic, and so fun filled. You can FEEL the energy from that album. You can FEEL the connection all of them had to each other during those recordings. It had a bit of everything on there. The bluesy riffs, the hard crunching riffs, the comical drums during the Everybody wants some, listen to Tora Tora and how ahead of the times that one sounded.

That is a CLASSIC album that may be over looked when we go looking for our favorite VH albums. I know I choose the FIRST VH album all the while. But, my constant favorite is Romeo Delight from WACF.

They gave us a real gift with that album. It's so unfortunate that they don't get back together. It's a chemistry that will never be repeated with no one. They all need each other to get the magic back. "Could this be magic?".....sure was, still could be.

WACF was the 1st VH album I ever purchased. I was 12 years old that Summer of 1980. They came to the Baltimore civic center on the Invasion tour. I was really pissed because my mom would not let me see them. I had older friends that went and said they kicked ass. You could tell they were having a great time recording that one. I don't think serious dissention kicked in until the recording of Fair Warning.

it's funny that romeo delight was not my favorite song off of W&CF back when i first got into them, and now it's my favorite song by them overall!

When WACF first came out, it was considered by many to be a notch below VHI & VHII. It was still Classic VH... nuff said.

The chemestry in Old School VH will can never be duplicated. What they had could not be replaced. When i listen to those old albums I STILL get chills. To start off..the first 3 albums were recorded live,right in the studio. Today's music? Please...I wonder how many times they had to re-record Ashley Simpson's vocals...or 1/2 that other garbage out there. When I see these SO CALLED rock bands on TV I want to throw up all over the screen. A bunch of fucking Rock wannabe's. All looking for their ONE hit song so it can be played on Z100 and be used at somebody's sweet 16. Please,,,Rock n roll is not something you fill out an application for to work with...yiou eiether have it or you don't. Fuckin Old School VH had it....and I've missed it ever since...

CVH is the best rock band of all time, whatever they recorded, went on tour it was great Every CVH song makes you feel good.

I believe CVH is even better than the Beatles, Rolling Stones or Zeppelin.

it was like you were listening in on their party whereas today dave is trying to get invited to any party ( hence the multi faceted career changes - he should have remained his ole super confident arrogant self,but it waned as sales declined).

CVH was the embodiment of the expression "the whole being greater than the sum of it's parts". When they gelled it was magic. Dave was the only part of the original lineup who was a bright enough star to shine on his own.

Personally, the thought of a reunion at this late stage makes me cringe. I fear it would be a blight on the memory of what was a great band. There has been too much said and done.

There's gotta be some chemistry going on when you record stuff like that in a little over half a month. That "wowmp-wowmp-wowmp" @ the beginning of "Fools" never appeared again. Wot a heavy riff......
