    Spammy fans need to realize.........

...........that if this was THE REAL REUNION it would be 100 times bigger. So before you go spouting off about how most people prefer Spammy, and that "this tour is doing so well" keep this is mind. If Dave had come back the buzz would be overwhelming. It would be ALL OVER TV , THE NET, THE RADIO......EVERYWHERE! THe shows would sell out almost immediately. In all honesty I would not be surprised if this Van Hagar BS tour sells completlely out. Ed's been away for a long time, and some will go see it for the Van HAlen name only. However if Spams back for good future tours will bomb BIG TIME. Shit, this tour was practically just announced and I'm not hearing shit about it, besides here and 2 second mentions occasionally on the radio.

I don't know Bill... Granted in the eyes of us folks here it would be huge/bigger... but I just suspect it wouldn't be any more significant from a general public perspective... if that were the case then Dave's touring the last 3 years would have had more impact and filled more than County Fairs w/ Skynyrd...

It would have owned in 1996, probably wouldn't own as much now, after the reunion blitz of so many bands.
I've got the cure you're thinkin' of.

A real Van Halen reunion would be akin to resurrecting John Bonham or Keith Moon.

The Who and Zepplin were both supergroups.

        Van Halen was too.

        Van Hagar wasn't.

I disagree. Sammy's solo career was basically in the shitter, now he's playing in arenas BECAUSE he's back with the Lying Dutchmen. And SAmmy was in the band as recently as 96.......Dave hasnt toured with VH for two decades. And Classic VH songs are still in constant rotation on rock radio, I Can't DRive 55 comes on more often than Van HAgar tunes do.

Excellent point Bill! If Dave were back, which will never happen, it would be completely insane. Sure this tour will sell out (ironic that the sell out VH is selling out), but the buzz will soon fade and future Van Hagar will be nothing more than a Cherone laugher. If they are smart they wouldn't release any new songs and just milk the old shit until they line their pockets enough so they can get drunk for a few years and then do it all over again, rewarding the lame-ass fans and punishing the real Halen backers.

Maybe I should release Moon & Entwistle from Hell and see how the Who tour does??

Or how about I send Lennon & Harrison up? I know every last one of you would sell me your souls for those tickets

Yup. You make some good points in this thread, Bill.

You are so fucking wrong. As usual.

And how the fuck can you compare a reunited Van HALEN tour with Dave touring solo. What the fuck is wrong with you, man?

As usual..? WTF? Oh don't go getting pissy with me Senor Stinkbait!! You're just being a bitch cause you bet your ball-bag yesterday & I raised you a left testicle and you lost and are standing around with one cajone in your hand... We're gonna have to start calling you Ole One-Nut!! LOL

Seriously... I should have elaborated on my original opinion... Neither Dave nor Sam were the huge draws solo... so I just didn't figure DLR reuniting with VH would be any more bigger than w/ Sam. You are correct it's an unfair comparison solo to a true VH reunited outfit.

                          Ole One-Nut!!! Heh Heh...

All you have to do is look at the demand.

Goes all the way to the present day, where radio stations mention the Van Hagar reunion in passing during a break in a block of classic Van Halen tunes.

And unlike the Who, or Zep, Van Halen's classic lineup is still alive and capable of reuniting.

I listen to as much radio, watch as much MTV and read as many rock mags as I did in 1996.

When Roth was fiddling about with Halen in 1996, the news was all over the place.

Outside of two mentions on the radio and what I've read on the net, I've heard and seen jack squat about the Van Hagar reunion in the mainstream/major media outlets.
