ALL DOWN HILL AFTER 84, AND NO MYSTERY WHY. STILL PROBABLY THE MOST INFLUENTIAL EVER. HE MADE ME PICK IT UP AND NEVER LOOK BACK. MAN I SURE MISS THE EXCITEMENT A NEW VH RECORD COULD GENERATE, WITH DLR OF COURSE.

Ed's top 3 all time, period! As far as influential, I'd have to say Ed, and the two Jim's, in any particular order. I don't think anyone else was that far reaching and had more of a lasting impact than those guys. Aspiring guitarists still revert back to them for inspiration and education. Not only were they all masters of their craft, they all were great song writers as well. A rare commodity. Some shred, some write, not everyone does each with greatness. I'll bet if you trace back any guitar hero from the last 20 yrs or so, they'll all lead back to one of these guys. Give it a try.

Doesn't really suprise me in that you look at what Ed HASN"T done in the past 10 years ... even though his legacy will live on foerever this is just a poll ... no weight behind it

UNCHAINED, I LIKE YOUR LIST. I WOULD THROW IN PAUL RODGERS TOO, BUT I THINK YOU NAILED EM ALL. I DIG BRIAN JOHNSON. DON'T GET MUCH BETTER THAN BACK IN BLACK. HAVE A DRINK ON ME!

I think the point, of both the RS & UNCUT polss taken together, is that young guitarist today are NOT looking back at EVH with any kind of reverance....they're not studying his STELLAR work on the 6 pack...and the music press, young and old, are so turned off by van hagar that they feel that it has put a blight on his legacy.....

UNCUT is a UK mag....this feeling towards EVH is spreading.....

                          He's becoming a footnote......

There's no doubt he's tarnished his legacy. I think young guitarist's who are real enthusiast's will find him.
I remember an old co-worker of mine who was from Turkey, much younger than I, and way into Yngwie, who really never heard much of Eds stuff. I turned him on to the six pack and he flipped. I guess if you love it enough, you'll search it out. It sure would help if Ed was viable today. Either way, he's still top 3 in my book, but you make a valid point.
