i love 1984. it is the cornerstone of van halens evolution into 5150 and beyond. the songs are all great and the band plays brliliant. i really love davids singing also. but the way the songs are with keyboards and all makes me think that if they had got sammy in he would have made it a real big selling album. sammy could have played guitar on jump and ill wait while edward played keyboards. it would have made sense. i think sammy would have done just as good a job interpreting edwards lyrics. listen to the way he does it live. huh. rock on vh.

Sammy sucks on those songs live because he really doesn't give a shit about them and only sings them because Eddie makes him.

AS far as having sammy on the 1984 album?? HELL NO! I love Sammy as the VH frontman, but no one can top DLR on 1984. It just wouldn't have that same majic. The same way that having DLR on 5150 would not have had the same majic.

It's like those 2 albums were just made for the singers they had at the time. Who knows, maybe it's sammy and DLR that made those ablums come out that way. I think Eddie realy takes into account the singer when he writes songs.

What a fag! You are a fuckin' idiot. Sam on 1984? Newsflash you dork. Dave had already been working with VH on 5150 when he left. Sam walked into the biggest gift of his life. That loser would have been the nobody he is today 20 years ago had Roth not left the band. Who knows how much of 5150 was Dave's idea. Dave stated in the press that when he left, VH had an album 1/2 way in the bag. That is how the VH homos got it done before Dave's EEAS. BTW, only an ignorant fool would think the Ed wrote the lyrics on the classic albums. Look at every single song written after Dave left. Most are pure cheese with good Ed riffs. Also, how about the two classic tracks on BOVI? Proof again that nothing will ever match Dave/Ed combo. Who cares if Sam had the better singing voice. Dave's voice had the distinct sound we all love. When it comes to rock and roll, it is the whole package that matters. Now go out and buy a couple more copies 5150.

Seriously dude,what fucking planet are you from? Cause it aint earth. Just because an album sells millions of records does not mean it's the peoples choice. The records with Dave rock cause they are REAL. None of this sissyfied,lets make every other song a ballad bullshit. Listen to those first 6 albums and study them. Listen to the vocals...the guitar..the drums...the bass...that's what a rock band should sound like. All sammy brought to the table were boring #1 records cause ,once again, we all know ballads sell. Fuck that...I love a good ballad as much as the next guy...but not 5 on every album. The group got old and serious with sammy and that,my friend,is where I draw the line. Rock n roll should not be serious. We have enough shit to deal with in everyday life. Dave brought life into that band and if it was Sammy who started the band.....it would be like MONTROSE all over again. 2 Albums and that would be it....
