What cover song should Dave have on his next album?
What cover song should Dave have on his next album?
I open the floor to Elvis...
Id like to see him re-do Hendrix's Crosstown Traffic again. Clean it up. add some zing...
"FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKIN' BITCH! WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE ANYWAYS? TALK TO ME LIKE THAT? FUCK YOU. DRAG QUEEN LOOKIN' WHORE- YOU AINT SHIT. YOUR THE FRECKLE TO THE LEFT OF MY BROWN EYE. NOW GO MAKE YOURSELF USEFUL...OH, PUT DAD ON THE PHONE"
"If the American people had ever known the truth about what we (the BCE) have done to this nation, we would be chased down in the streets and lynched." - Poppy Bush, 1992
Hmmm. I, too, think Dave's done his share of cover tunes lately. But if I had to suggest some, here are some possibilities:
1. Seagull (Bad Company) --A cool, somewhat haunting, mellow tune that makes you want to stick your toes in the sand, a la Black Sand, Coconut Grove, etc.
2. Couldn't Get It Right (Climax Blues Band)
3. Anything by Black Oak Arkansas--It would be kind of like an "official" nod to Jim Dandy, who obviously was a big influence on Dave.
4. Well All Right (Blind Faith)
5. Hair of the Dog (Nazareth)
6. Something by the James Gang. I know VH did at least one James Gang back in their club days. I have a bootleg somewhere that includes VH doing "Walk Away." Pretty cool tune.

Right Place, Wrong Time by DR John. How he has never done this is beyond me....this song has Dave all over it.
I been in the right place but it must have been the wrong time
I'd have said the right thing but I must have used the wrong line
I been in the right trip but I must have used the wrong car
My head was in a bad place and I'm wondering what it's good for
I been the right place but it must have been the wrong time
My head was in a bad place but I'm having such a good time
I been running trying to get hung up in my mind
Got to give myself a good talking-to this time
Just need a little brain salad surgery
Got to cure my insecurity
I been in the wrong place but it must have been the right time
I been in the right place but it must have been the wrong song
I been in the right vein but it seems like the wrong arm
I been in the right world but it seems wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong
Slipping dodging sneaking creeping hiding out down the street
See me life shaking with every ho' I meet
Refried confusion is making itself clear
Wonder which way do I go to get on out of here
I been in the right place but it must have been the wrong time
I'd have said the right thing but I must have used the wrong line
I'd have took the right road but I must have took a wrong turn
I'd have took the right move but I made it at the wrong time
I been on the trip road but I must have used the wrong car
My head was in a good place and I wonder what it's bad for.

It's time to get "Hot and Nasty". :D That would work for me.
