Did Warner Bros. put out the 6 pack remasters for a reason in 2000?

I remember the rumours swirling in 2000 about a Classic Van Halen reunion. Do you think Warner Bros. jumped on this opportunity and re-released the 6 pack, were they close to doing at reunion do you think? Or is Warner Bros just greedy bastards and knew the die hards would but them? Either way, the remastered 6 pack is awesome..I freaking love um!

They definitely recorded some songs together in 2000, but the sisters fucked it all to Hell.
    23. That's the number of people Mr. T has pitied in the time it has taken you to read this sentence.

I believe the song "It's About Time" was originally called... "The Hands Fell Off The Clock" and was recorded with Dave first.

I think it was a little of both.

Bottom line, its all a damn shame is what it is.

They worked up a bunch of demos, had big plans... alas, no dice.

There's quite a few bands that have released DVDs like Priest from 82, and Journey from 81. Steve Perry has been promoting the Houston DVD while Journey is still touring with Steve Augeri. Only VH won't acknowledge the past. Fuckers.

I was in a store the other day, and saw the KISS "Gold" collection. All, the original classic, pre-1982, KISS on a two CD set...

Separate and distinct from their post-Freely, post-make up days...

Why can't VAN HALEN acknowledge they are two distinct eras and give the fans what they want?

                  Dave or the grave man!

I'm happy I got the remasters...but you think there could have been a little more to the packaging? I bet you all $100.00 that as soon as they release Sammy remasters with VH there will be liner notes...pictures...and coupons for Sammy's tequila!

Exactly! I've bitched about this before. They could have easily done things like put an audio-only, re-mixed version of the three Oakland 1981 vids on the remastered FAIRWARNING for instance, but nooooooooo!

They easily could have included live extras or demo versions...

They could have offered seperate packages of, for example, VHI, with an "ATOMIC PUNKS" style live album from their first tour as part of an optional two-CD "Remaster" set for a few extra ducets! And offered a lot of extra for a little extra money

But noooooo! "Give us twelve more bucks for something it cost us next to nothing to improve on, ohhhh! we gotta' get our Smoking Loons wine," don't we ED, you lazy drunken, legacy-killing bastard!

I hear ya NICKDFRESH!! You are right on the $$$. I've never seen a band so ashamed of their roots..how it began..and the power of the orginal band. It's almost like Eddie,Alex, and Mike are avoiding the past. I've never understood that! Oh well...they're probley just embarrased with the fact that all the albums they sold with Sammy had hits...#1 records..ect...and fans STILL yearn for classic VH!! I mean it's got to be a slap in the face...right?

Hey, they could have pulled an Ozzy and paid Sammy to hold the mike out to a live studio audience and re-record the audio track (we all know he can't/won't sing the lyrics himself). Just be thankful they were released with the original lineup intact.
After the Ozzy fiasco any remaster must be suspect.

They put them out because the original CDs sound like shit compared to the new ones.

I dont care, the six pack can't be beaten by anybody else, so what I've got is good. Gotta love them all in the six pack, I tell you.
