I saw Van Halen live at the old Charlotte Coliseum in NC back on 2/1/84 with Autograph as the opening act which is one of the greatest concert experiences of my youth when they were the kings of rock with few equals at the time which I will always remember since I just turned 20 years old a few weeks before & it was one of the coldest days of winter in February with my hands getting numb waiting for the arena doors to open but it was worth it if you ever saw VH live before they became mainstream. VH kicked out the jams giving the fans what they wanted with their rock classics & new songs from their newly released 1984 as well as Eddie's excellent guitar viruosity along with Dave's showmanship & bad ass attitude besides Alex playing his drums & Michael his bass but it's a night of rock & roll that I will never forget since it's a once in a lifetime experience similiar to a Beatles concert during the 60's even though hopefully there will be a concert documentary of the VH/DLR era live for old fans like myself bringing back memories & younger fans who never experienced VH live in those days.
How many of you saw Van Halen with Dave in those days?

Saw Van Halen St. Patrick's Day 1984 with Autograph opening, at the Providence Civic Center.
Tickets were like $14.95.
Up to that point, it was the biggest stage production I'd ever seen in the Civic Center. Think the Civic Center seats between 10 - 15,000.
During Everybody Wants Some, Dave told a long joke accompanied by Alex on drums. Went along the lines of Alex having picked up a woman and taking her back to his hotel room. Alex lay in bed and watched the woman take off her false eyelashes, padded bra, wig, high heels etc and put them on the nightstand table. Then Alex got out of bed. The woman asked him where he was going, and he said he was going over to fuck the table.
Seemed like the entire band wasn't onstage for more than a few songs at a time. Eddie took what seemed like a 15 minute guitar solo, and towards the end of it people were yelling "Play some fucking SONGS!". I also remember Ed playing the Jump guitar solo on his synthesizer (what a jip).Scramby eggs and bacon.Comment

I have '84 boots and he plays the Jump solo on the synth every time. He also screwed up Jump quite a bit...how ironic that a brilliant guitar player would fuck up Jump. Augusta 2/19/84 was the funniest, because he screwed it up so bad he had to have been drunk off his ass.Comment

I saw them in June of 1984 here in SLC at the old Salt Palace. At the time it was the record for the fastest selling show. It sold out in under 1/2 an hour. It was my first concert ever and still the best!!!EAT US AND SMILE!!!!
