I still prefer "5150"...mainly because it held up better than the other Hagar albums...At least for me anyway.
"Balance" soundwise is excellent.
"The Seventh Seal" is the best one on that album.I like to pay close attention to the things I'll forget later...Comment

5150 was great in that it was the first CD with Hagar. Had no idea what to expect.
And yes.....Seventh Seal absolutely fucking tears the place up. Great goddamned opening.Pope of The Church Of Almighty Sam, Rock God and LEADER of Van Halen!!!Comment

Against my will, I went to a dinner at my wife's friends place. There were a few couples there. Anyway, the guy hosting the dinner had a clip on ear ring. Nuff said. I was lookin through his cd collection - he had 1984, then the entire Hagar catalog. I said "Dude, you need to have a yard sale."
Then the inevitable Dave vs Fat Sam arguement ensued. To prove a point, I put OU812 on - Mine All Mine started and he thought it was the most rockin thing ever. There was obviously no reasoning with the guy.
A question for Hammy Fatgar fans: If Hammy-era's stuff was soooo good and soooo much better than Roth-era stuff (yeah right, whatever), then how come Van Halen themselves ONLY REMASTERED THE FIRST 6 ALBUMS???
Defense rests, your honour. No further questions, case dismissed.Comment

Well, as much as I hate "fence" players, I'm definitely one when it comes to Van Halen.
True, I fucking LOVE VH with Dave, I still LIKE some of the Hagar era.
Your question about "remastering" is indeed a good one. I guess the only REAL reason they did so at the time is because Dave was poised to join the group again at that point.
I guess now they'll soon go for the Hagar era.
On a sidenote, I really didn't think "Fair Warning" needed to be remastered. It was by far and away the loudest mother fucking Dave era album out there, and the best!
That being said, I'm not sure how they could remaster "Balance." It's a loud fucking CD also.I like to pay close attention to the things I'll forget later...Comment

It's crap even by Van Hagar standards. It's sad what drug addiction leads people to. I think that guy needs treatment.
Much worse is when they list their favorite song as "Dreams"...& it's a guy....
ugggggggghhhhh....."Honey, my shirt got itself torn up. My shirt tore itself on that stripper's hand, and I need it to be sewed up for the show."
"No problem, Dave, no problem. Say hello to Fluffy."
"Fuck you, Fluffy."
"No, no, you're going to upset Fluffy."
"I ain't saying hello to no stuffed bear."
"You know, now that I think about it, it's going to take a little longer to sew up that shirt than I was thinking."
"Hi Fluffy, how you been?"
"Now that I'm thinking of it even more, it's going to take half the time, Double D, Diamond Dave! Would you hold Fluffy?"
"N--- yeah."Comment

0u812 is one of Van Halen/Van Hagar worst album of all time.
I am debating over 0u812 or Van Halen 3 being the worst VH album of all time, but 0u812 has "Finish what ya started" the worst songs of the worst songs of all time!!!!!
You can bet that song will be included in the song list for the Van Hagar reunion tour.Comment
