    GuitarOne's Eddie Van Halen opinion

Guitar One magazine thinks little of Eddie Van Halen
    Thursday, January 19, 2006

The challenge: "Top 10 Guitarists Who Desperately Need to Retire."

    The challenger: Guitar One magazine.

    The winner: Eddie Van Halen.

The reason: "It's been 20 years since Eddie's done anything worthwhile on guitar," according to Guitar One. "Anyone that ineffective at any other job would have been fired 19 years and 10 months ago."
"Van Halen was one of the most hallelujah, tailgate, backyard, BBQ, arrive four hours early to the gig just for the parking lot bands. And still to this day is. It's an attitude. I think it's a spirit more than anything else is."

That reminds me of Chris Rocks' skit about George Bush during the Academy Awards.

Damn...he really fucked Bush up at the Grammys...

Didn't he compare the Iraq war to a war between the Gap and the Banana Republic...and some shit about toxic tank tops?

          Yep.

He also harped on how much money Bush has the country in debt. And, if that happened to anyone else in a regular job they would have been fired instantly.

Funny thing is, EVH really doesn't care. His loss.

I don't care if Ed's a jackass or whatever, the guy is an incredible musician, period. I really don't like the style he turned to after Sammy joined but he's still a top class musician. If he was to make another album with Dave I'm sure we'd see some of that rawness back. He just turned more into a songwriter than playing to be in the spotlight.

I agree. Eddie's the reason I got off the piano and started the guitar, and I would also be the first to bring up Eddie in a conversation of best guitarists of all time, but he really has made some mess ups within the last 10-15 years

Maybe it will light a fire under his ass! I think there will be a day maybe even 10 years from now but it will happen when Edward has a kick ass guitar album... If he doesnt die first.
