The word underrated crops up alot here. It is sad but true. Dave's career took a nose dive after Skyscraper and after the amazing EEAS band split up.

Regardless, he's still a hugely entertaining and talented character and has the potential to make a big comeback if the timing is right.

        It was all really good.

        Van Hagar was so bad.

I think Dave has had a few good tracks on all of his cd's.... He's still got what it takes to rock.

My personal take is that, for the most part, David's career has been outstanding. There were certain elements I've never been able to truly get behind (I was never a fan of Steve Vai and probably never will be...YFLM was a rough listen for me...), but overwhelmingly I think David's career has been extremely multi-faceted and I think he's shown a tremendous amount of creativity and the material he's released, I feel, has always been top-notch quality.

To this day, I still think that ALAE is the best non Van Halen Van Halen album, and I think it sounds 100 times better than anything Hagar's done with the band or ever will.

Dave's lyricism is really ingenious and you won't find anybody in rock music anywhere that can put words to a song like he does...very full of hidden (and not so hidden) meanings, and the lyrics often times give you different impressions after multiple listens. I think all of his albums have a very high replay value, and I think it's shameful that his solo career really hasn't been more succesful than what it has been. Given the right sort of promotion and backing, I think David, as a solo artist, could be filling arenas easily.

The problem with that, though, is that David's approach to writing, recording and performing is highly intelligent, and as such the results are highly intelligent as well, and that, many times, does not really translate into the flavor-of-the-month music market. What it does bring, however, are the fans who appreciate the music for what it is, and value it because of that, not because MTV or hip hop radio tells them it's something they should be buying because all their friends are buying it.

Honestly, I think it's nice that David's at a point where the people buying the albums and showing up to see him are the ones who want to be there, not the sheep that feel they have to be because it's the only option...which is, truthfully, the only thing Van Halen's offered it's fans since 1986.

Would it make you feel better if I agreed with everything you say from here on out? I don't want you to feel left out in the cold, ya know...

Crazy from the heat - it is what it is (not one of my favorites but its a fun record)

Eat em and Smile - a genius piece of work

Skyscraper - genius piece of work

A little aint enough - a solid hard rocking record but its not quite as up to par as the previous efforts ( i wish becker wrote more of the material on it)

Your Filthy Little mouth - I think i like maybe 2-3 songs on it...the rest are just eh to me.

DLR band - smoking guitars on pretty much all tracks but some wear is shown on Daves voice on this record. Its a shame only 1 or two tracks were played off this album live and it didnt sell too many copies.

Diamond Dave - it is what it is (just a cover album and i dont care for it.

I'm still waiting for an album of original material by his band.
