I would feel sorry for Eddie Van Halen if a tragic accident or disease ruined his career. Lots of people worked their ass off to have what Ed achieved but they didn't get the break or they simply didn't have the natural talent. So Eddie Van Halen through hard work and natural brilliance becomes one of rock guitars greats and then he loses it.

How? By being an egotistical, stubborn loser. His substance abuse is a result of his own ego and lack of consideration for others. If he really cared about his son and his wife, he would have quit the shit.

Ed had everything: A beautiful wife that stood by him, a son, lots of money, and making it doing what he loved. Very few people in the world were as lucky as Ed and Ed pissed it all away.

See, most people hate their jobs. Most don't make millions doing what they love. That's why in the real world, guys like Eddie Van Halen get little sympathy and in fact, get pissed on by the people who used to idolize him.

Ed is a fucking bum and that is what ruined his life.

Not surprising to me at all to see that he's in 200% better shape than Ed is.

he has come up with great stuff over his career. Dokken was a very talented band and very underrated back in the day.

Both are great guitarist's and there is no question that Mr. Lynch has taken better care of himself. From a musical stand point Ed has provided a hell of alot more material than Lynch. Van Halen ala the DLR era just smoked Dokken. I enjoyed Dokken but they just did not have the depth that classic VH had. What separated VH from the pack was a charismatic frontman which Dokken did not possess. Excellent background vocal harmonies that complimented Roth, Dokken did not have that element either. Dokkens lack of depth put all the pressure on Lynch and the guitarist alone, can't carry the load.

Check out Lynch/Pilson "Wicked Underground" and it'll make you realize that George Lynch and Jeff Pilson were the true driving force behind Dokken. Alos who has ever heard "Mr. Scary" from Back for the Attack" will know just how talented Lynch is.
