How Do Y'All Feel About Dave Goin' Country?

Yesterday, Dave announced he is going to be a celebrity judge on Nashville Star in a month or so. (The show starts next week, Wednesdays on USA). He's taking the radio show on location for that.

He also talked about the tribute to Van Halen album again "Strummin' With the Devil" that he did two songs for (bluegrass versions of Jamie's Cryin' and Jump). He said he'll be making announcements about that soon and will debut the songs on his show. He is really stoked about this and says the songs are stellar. He also said he'd be doing Letterman and Leno. I wonder if the songs will be released on country radio. He said he's been watching a lot of CMT lately, because they have contacted him also about appearances.

Of course, I love any chance to see him, but I'm not so sure about this direction. More publicity anyway, I guess.

If he goes cuntry, he loses me. That would be the last staw. FUCK THAT! Roth is Rock And Roll.

I am looking forward to this bluegrass VH tribute, though. I'm a big bluegrass fan and it should be interesting.

I'll be interested to hear how the VH tunes sound with a bluegrass twist. Country is good, but I don't have a passion for it.

Roth will have fun with it, but I don't believe he's going Country for any long haul. He seems to enjoy tackling alittle of everything, so I think it will be just another notch on the belt to discover, experience and move beyond Tennessee.

I know alot of guy fans don't like the duet DLR did with Travis Tritt "Heartbreak Cafe"? But I thought it was Good, upbeat and fun.

Roth and the Grand Ole Opry....okay, I can handle that. I would only be shocked if he starts dueting and dating Dolly Parton.

        New music from Roth.

        Appearances on late night TV.

        Daily radio show.

Appearance on what is arguably the best TV show on the air (The Sopranos)

Narration for a movie (the gig he's been talking about on his radio show for the past 2-3 weeks)

Whether you agree with the direction he's taking or not it's hard to dispute that Dave is making a comeback of sorts. It's starting small but wouldn't it be great if it just grows and grows. The possibilities are endless. Long live Diamond Dave.

We need to keep in mind that bluegrass and country are two entirely differents things. Especially new country music, most of which sucks.

Dave is singing on a couple of tracks for the bluegrass album. But I'm sure if he went "country", I assume it would be something like Ronnie Lee Keel. LOL

I think between this announcement and Eddie showing up at the Grammy's...we're getting a very good indicator that Rockstar Van Halen will be airing this summer.

Promotion by Eddie making a very public appearance in a place that doesn't always politically cater to the Rock n Roll Genre, and competition from other channels by asking Dave to come out and play. Especially on a realtiy talent show.

                What do you think?

I always thought that whatever Dave outside of the regular hard rock were just 'projects'.

I don't see this Country thing being any different than Dave doing "California Girls" or "Just a Gigilo" or the Diamond Dave album.

                    They're just 'projects'.

We know that Dave's heart will always be in rock n roll.

                      Nailed it.

I'll give whatever he does a listen. Always have. Dave's high standards and track rate of putting out stuff that I dig has earned him that right from me, in terms of checking out/buying whatever he does unheard or unseen beforehand.

The dude continues to work and keep things moving.

I'm talking a full country gig. Doing a pitiful one-off on an album doesn't count.

Ronnie Lee Keel? Bret Michaels? I don't think Roth should be sitting among those jagoffs.

So for me it's a go!

Dave should do everything do get back in the public eyes.
