    Roth's Influence on Other Vocalist

I was very shocked to see the different artist that CVH and DLR has influenced not just Metal but a lot of 90's Alternative as well.
    Here's The List:
    Andrew Wood of Pearl Jam
Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot Chilli Peppers
    Hombres G?? A Latin Group?

I was suprised to see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers guy up tere, You can kinda here it though if you listen closely.

I've always thought that, not so much in vocals but in general vibe (even though I grew to fucking hate the guy, long ago.)

            DLR's vocal influence

hey Unchainme, you bring up a point that i've often thought about and debated with others.....It's bizarre how many DLR-haters or just lazy ignorant fluffheads everywhere, still say that Dave could never really sing, was not much of a 'vocalist' and only his showmanship and antics gave him stellar frontman status and saved the day for him....No doubt, Dave always had far greater charisma, wit, honesty, a sense of irony and intensity than his peers before or after him...No pretender wannabe-frontman in the world of heavy rock ever came close to matching that....But i always maintain that quite apart from Dave's undeniable excellence as a perfomer, it is his vocal talents that outshone everything else.....Dave was a superb vocalist (primariy in classic VH), with a highly impressive range, tone, vibratto, variety, and sheer ballast and technique that not just wowed his fans but inspired an entire generation of aspiring rock/metal vocalists to follow..the comparisons with Sammy are absolutely ludicrous..it's a no-contest in my book...Dave's lyrical and vocal powers outdid anything Sammy ever did or fantasized about...Sammy is just a sickening screecher with a pedestrian vocal style that bores and/or maddens me to the verge of violence....but you are so right about shadows of Dave's vocal God in Andy Wood of Pearl Jam..i havent' heard much of RHCP or don't remember much anyway to comment...and Dave being such a worldly, well-travelled man and CVH music being such a powerful meteor that first struck the planet of hard rock way back in 1978, it's small wonder that Dave's vocal influences travel far and wide, Latin groups included....and hey, i always strongly felt that badboy(but one i always loved) Axl Rose of GunsnRoses wore several obvious shades of DLR's amazing vocal hues on his sleeve....such is Dave's influence>>>
Music is like girlfriends to me; I'm constantly amazed at the choices other dudes make----DLR

dlr has influenced manyppl, I am a pro singer 4 octaves but roth's ability to give the lyrics feel is unprecedented. I have played in bands with a great VH influence...check out glasshouseroxx.com n you'll see what i mean!!

What cracks me up is the fact that very few club bands play DLR era VH. WHY, because they can't sing Roth without sounding like shit. DLR has a very distinct voice that most singers can't cop. It really pissed me off when I was in bands and wanted to add some classic VH to the set list but never had a singer that could pull it off. Let all the naysayers knock The Diamond One, but ask them to step up to the plate and sing his music. I don't believe you will get many takers. Even Hagar had trouble with the Roth material, hence why he never wanted to do it.

Andrew Wood was the frontman of Mother Love Bone, not Pearl Jam.

I don't hear an influence there at all. Visually though, I could see where "Landrew" was influenced by Dave.

Do you know who has quite a similar sounding voice to Dave? David Wyndorf from Monster Magnet has a very similar tone to DLR.

He looks like Dave From the 1978 promo vids.

It's amazing how many people don't know this PROVEN fact. It's almost like Classic VH and Dave are always looked over. Why? I have no fucking clue. The other day I was in a store that had rock t shirts. Well , every OTHER band was there BUT classic Vh? I asked the guy behind the counter and he had no clue eiether ? ? ? It's like the band never fucking existed. You have to be living under a rock for the past 30 years not to think of CLASSIC VH as an influence. I personally feel that even in the Rock and Roll hall of fame they will never get the FULL credit they deserve. Just cause some jerk off critic thinks Sammy's a better choice casue he thinks the song "Right Now" changed his life. Gimmie a fuckin break. Classic Vh had it all....period! Or as Dave would say: Peri-fucking-id!
