Now, if I wanted to see what anybody has to say about something dlr, I first have to wade my way through a bunch of attention whores (even worse than myself) threads on the gay links/hagar/tour etc. to find it. Want to talk Roth? I just finished watching Van Halen "the Early Years" DVD for the 4th time. The main hump I can't seem to get over, is the break-up. Anthony and Al are talking about how they got word that Roth was "jamming" with his "new band" of Vai and Billy, which of course at this time period is wrong and a blatant lie. Because the very next clip on the DVD, is Dave doing CFTH. No Vai. No Billy. That wasn't until 86. But this, apparently the reason why Roth "quit". He already had another band, and Eddie was crying and Al chewing his nails.
Now, that is, of course, their version. Roth fans know the real story and we can get into it whenever we choose to- But my question is, since this wasn't a full blown supported release from Van Halen or even Roth, why would the producer choose to go with the bullshit "break up" story as opposed to what really happened?
