I recently watched some footage of the famed "Oakland 1981" concerts and wondered to myself what the bands "state of mind" must of been during these shows. My guess is "Euphoric Ecstacy", and not because of any drugs to speak of.
My question is, After the 1984 POP JUMP split, Do you think any individual member of the band reached that state musically or mentally again? My guess is no. And that's what's so sad.
I applaud Dave and Eddie for artistically JUMPING OFF the proverbial musical Bridge. I really do, but it sure didn't improve their lives. It's great to say "YOU'RE A BUNCH OF FUCKING SOULLESS IDIOTS" to the masses/sheep, but the problem is they wouldn't and didn't understand it. JUMP is still being played @ Basketball tipoffs for crying out loud!
It appears Dave is desperately trying to find that happiness again through radio. Sadly, the MACHINE has put him back up against the wall. Eddie, however, appears that he has realized the massive mistake they made 20+ years ago. The alchohol and bad live performances are proof of that.
See, the music they made symbolized FREEDOM. Their music cuts to the core. It UNCHAINED ENTHUSIASM. Giving that out through concerts and records must be an indescribable feeling. It's shapes lives and cultures driven by a media/mediums. Today, this culture probably needs another Van Halen to free the people from the DEHUMANIZING ways of mainstream rap and pornography(which is now mainstream, as you all know judging by your picture forum, which I thought was just for Dave and CVH). Think about being a young girl growing up during these times. That's a scary thought. But, honestly, who really cares? I don't. I love tight tops, bottoms, and platinum hair baby! The exterior is all I'm really concerned about. Don't you feel the same? (nod, if you agree)
In closing, I would just hope all of you stop making a mockery of Eddie Van Halen. Why would you ever ridicule someone that has given you so much joy?
But hey, you want the Reunion right? My bad.
