I bumped into an old friend at a Joe Satriani/Eric Johnson show last night who now works for Peavey. We got to talking about the old days.
He used to manage a local music store. I thanked him again for cutting me a good deal on the Kramer he sold me 20 years ago and the subject of EVH came up . He told me that Fender (who bought out Charvel) is getting fed up with dealing with Ed . Not only because he's a
difficult , miserable ,anti-people kind of guy ,but it's mainly due to substance abuse (booze and crack, not meth).
He told me the guy is impossible. He's looked at as a lost cause in the industry and that no-body would touch him with a 10 foot pole. Record company's and manufacturers alike.
Look for a change in their (Ed /Fender)relationship real soon.
Epilogue..We all know most of these facts anyway , but the good news is he's not doing the hard stuff , he's only doing crack....whew !. and the other thing (EVH/Fender deal) will disintigrate pretty much like everything else when he's been left to his own devises. .......
