I don't blame anyone for taking the singer job...you'd be dumb not to. However, when you disrespect the original singer then that's when i have the problem.

Do you think anybody is going to remember Gary Cherone of Extreme fame as a VH frontman who was mediocre at best or the one album VH3 in VH history compared to David Lee Roth & Sammy Hagar DLR_EngineRoom? Dave is one of the last great frontmen in rock with few equals with his showmanship & bad ass attitude during his VH days while Sammy is a great frontman in VH during his era but average compared to DLR.Comment

Yeah, no SHIT!"He doesn't need to sell millions of records, he doesn't need to fill arenas, he doesn't need to be popular, he doesn't need your money, AND HE DOESN'T NEED YOU!"

If you take somebody's place in a band and that person was well liked and would be missed by everybody, you've gotta respect that. But Hagar wanted to show that he was 'Hard Rockin' and didn't do that. Now hes rocking.........in his chair at the retirement home.Moving webhosts & will be making changes to the picture hosting - watch this space..Comment

The Spammy sheep always wonder why we blast the fat poser every chance we get. Well it was bad enough that the music was beyond horrible(predictable, easy listening, cliched garbage), but SPAMMY SHOULDVE KEPT HIS FUCKING TRAP SHUT AND THANKED HIS POODLE GOD! Without Dave pushing VH to the heights he did, there would have been no high profile gig for Spam to step into and he would have been vaguely remembered as a C level nobody! The only thing memorable about Van Hagar is that it is UNMEMORABLE!Comment

Yep. Deep down they know who the real deal is. And if they don't they must be closet Celine Dion fans! They're jealous cuz Dave gets all the props and respect from real rock fans, while SPammy gets respect from his dog.......maybe.Comment

Can't blame Cherone or Hagar for wanting to front Van Halen, agreed.
Two different approaches, though. Cherone had respect for the classic lineup. Hagar had none.
Yep, I remember Hagar wearing that "Dave Who?" t-shirt in 1986. Another manifestation of his lack of self-confidence regarding Dave.
Problem with Sammy is that he was never anything special in terms of a frontman. That's part of why he tried to ape Roth's schtick when he fronted Van Hagar, because he had nothing original to offer.
Hagar should be thanking Dave for leaving in 1985, instead of acting like the Van Hagar lineup was the definitive version of Van Halen.Scramby eggs and bacon.Comment

Sad part for Sammy is that the Van Halen 3 lineup sounded better live than Sam Halen did. As odd as Gary grapping his ass onstage looked, at least he gave some of those long neglected classic tunes a shot.
Funny how Sammy says he's so much better than Roth, yet never bothered to do anything other than the same 4 classic tunes live and fumbled them disasterously. You would think if he's such a better singer than Dave he wouldn't have had a problem with it.
