Well, take this into account. If the relationship of the band became worse than what it is, then the rest of the show dates would be cancelled. At least a new CD would provide EVERYBODY with a chance to hear them perform again. Reunion concert would sound sweet, but if they don't come to your town and the shows are sold out, what are you going to do?.....besides find a scalper during the night of the concert and beat the crap out of him and swipe his tickets! *evil grin*

But if I had to make a choice, new music for sure.

I still have a feeling that CVH could reunite and rehearse enough and pull off a series of shows that would be worthy of the name IF all the members were sober and focused enough, but I have a gut feeling that if it does happen, it's gonna be Ed and Al doing it for the cash and going through the motions, and that attitude would translate towards the intensity of the performance...probably to its detriment.

I have no doubt Dave would give it his all, but I seriously hope he doesn't end up doing it if Ed isn't up to snuff just because he has wanted to more than the rest of them closing in on a decade now...

It seems like Roth is the only one who really wants it. From what Al and Mike have said, appears as soon as Dave threw in some suggestions about musical content their LAST go-around, the rest of them threw up their hands because it/he was 'difficult'.

They like their safety zone with Sammy. Non-challenging, no resistance (Hagar'd do another tour in a heartbeat, regardless of what he says, AND he'd put out three more pieces of shit on ANOTHER greatest hits album as a precursor too if Eddie wanted to).

Getting back together with Dave involves a certain amount of work for them and a certain amount of compromise (financially, creatively, etc.). And it is a tacit recognition that Van Halen WASN'T all about Eddie. For as much ego as Dave brings to the table, Ed and his brother have plenty of their own to match...

So, yeah, I'd rather have a cd.

its a hypothetical question, and knowing them it could happen . but in their case a tour would be planned but the would fight too much to even get on the bus
