Van Halen - defining moments in history

I was thinking about some of the different events that made Van Halen so fucking great. Here is a list of some of the top defining moments in their career. Please add any others. Or add onto descriptions of the ones I listed.

1978 – Van Halen releases 1st album and ushers in a new breed of rock music. The first thing anyone hears is an unknown young guitarist that can do things with a guitar that no one else had ever done.

1978 – Van Halen tours in support of the great Black Sabbath, only to gain a huge reputation and following for consistently blowing Sabbath off the stage. Unheard of in those days.

1981 – Oakland One of the greatest Van Halen concerts ever.

1983 – US Festival, San Bernardino, CA - Van Halen headlines one of the largest festivals of it’s era, 300,000+ fans, and at the time becomes the highest paid live act ever.

1983/84 - New Years Eve - David Lee Roth drunk on MTV New Year’s Eve Party to introduce the world premiere of the Jump video. Introduces VH to millions of young MTV generation fans and sets a formula that 90% of coming rock bands will try to follow. Shows current fans why VH is king.

1984 – Panama video - Arena rock video done right.

1984 – Hot For Teacher video – Illustrates the variety of ways in which hard rock videos can be made. Breaks the mold of the “4 guys just headbanging on stage” stereotype rock bands had. Also demonstrates Van Halen’s creativity and fun side.

1984 – Tour - Many venues with multiple dates sold out. Millions of fans flock to see the Mighty Van Halen in support of the white-hot 1984 album. Unbeknownst to them, the final Van Halen tour.

1996 – MTV Music Awards – Fans have been starved for a reunion for over a decade. The world is in a frenzy with reunion talk.

It's listed as the New Yeasr eve 1983. That was the MTV world premier of it. But you are totally right. That was my line of thinking anyways.
