    The Comeback Kid!

David Lee Roth is embarking on a victory tour this summer and if the praise the mighty Roth Army has heaped on Diamond Dave has been any indication, he will be looking to silence those who doubted him with a huge spectacle worthy of his name. That's why when he comes to my hometown, San Diego, he will be playing the Pala Indian Casino (July 21). Yes, folks, that same mamoth venue that will play host to such big names as Tim Conway and Smokey Robinson this summer will also be graced with DLR as he banters, swaggers and otherwise schmaltzes his way through a set list in front of a wopping 1200 seats. Not to worry, fans; unlike old smokey and Conway, Roth will be charging less for his best seats than they do for their worst ($45). Must be because he cares so much for the fans--those memories of half-filled arenas despite cut-price lawn tickets during his second and third solo outings have nothing to do with it skeptics! Word is that the venue is offering a special entrance/exit to/from the show so that the bulk of Roth's fans can hop on their Larks and motorize themselves back to the slot machines. Seems to me their was a fellow by da' name 'o Il_es_douche who predicted Roth's eventual return to the Indian casino circuit way back in December. Whatever happened to that guy? He was a genius. (There's your material for witty rejoinders Matt Whit, Warf, and other predictables).

Pala? Cool. I live about 15 minutes from there. The Indian Casino circuit is definitely getting better. At Pechanga, about 10 minutes from Pala, Queensryche will be there in Sept. I also recently saw Journey there as well. 3 Doors Down plays there next month. Tickets are less because the casino makes money just from people showing up. Roth won't be paid by ticket sales, but rather a set fee.

Upcoming shows at Pechanga, Pala, & Harrahs (all within 20 minutes of each other here in So CA)
    Jethro Tull
    Wayne Brady (funny motherfucker)
    Lynard Skynard
    Queensryche
    Three Doors Down
    INXS
    Natalie Cole
    Pat Benatar
    Black Crowes
    Sammy Hagar
    John Fogerty
    Ashlee Simpson

There were a ton of quality shows last summer as well.

I think "Wayne Brady (funny motherfucker)" says it all. He is almost the scary talent that Carrot Top is. Who else is in your roster of faves...the majesty that is Michael Bolten? The don't-stop-rochin power of Loverboy? Yep, DLR fans sure have discriminating tastes.

I'll see Queensryche for sure. They are doing Mindcrime 1 & 2 in their entirety. 3 Doors Down might be pretty cool too. I haven't heard the new album though. I don't remember Loverboy on that list. Oh well, feel free to make shit up if it helps support your position on Roth.

Loverboy: June 2 at the Temecula Wine and Balloon Fest SPONSORED by Indian casion Pachanga. That's sad on two levels, but more importantly, it demonstrates that DLR fans like Sadaist are incapable of seeing what's right in front of them, ie: a balding and ranting no talent gets up on stage or on the radio and the great "army" gasped, "we've seen the messiah!"

The WIne Festival and the casino are 2 completely different entities. They (Indian Casinos) have all the dough around here. They sponsor everything. Little League, Temecula Duck Pond, Girl Scouts, anything & everything they can stick their name to for publicity. I don't see Queensryche playing at cub scout den 316's weekly meeting. But when they actually bring acts into their own ampitheaters, they are the bigger draws. By the way, that fucking wine festival fucked up traffic for miles. Last year I met Stephen Baldwin at the Chevron station near the festival. Filling up his H2. GODDAMN the chick he was with was fine.

Dave's still Dave, regardless of the locale or size of the audience.

Seems like you've done a lot of research on this, which I assume is because you're interested in going (would seem kind of sad for you to go to the trouble of finding all this out and taking the time to register and post on this site if you DIDN'T enjoy Roth's brand of rock and roll) - so in conclusion, ENJOY THE SHOW!!
