I agree... try comparing Black Sand against Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love and see how far you get.

The 6 pack is undeniable, but King daddy Roth brought the fire, no?

I went with #2. Dave's solo stuff is grate (most of it), but I wouldn't really compare any of it to the strongest of the original 6.

I do enjoy some solo tracks, but really just a few.

i agree with you, but I think that EEAS is on the same level as the original 6.

Really? I like EEAS, but wouldn't put it anywhere near the mighty six in terms of rock greatness.

I'm unabashedly pro CVH and will listen to CVH before solo DLR...

CVH just clicked, every time...and admittedly solo DLR didn't sometimes...

                          Van Halen

Compare the worst Classic Van Halen song you can
think of (if there is such a thing)
against the worst Dave solo song..

How about "Dancing in the Streets" v "Look at all the people here tonight"

I fookin cant stand "Dancing in the streets, but it still craps all
over "Look at all the people here tonight"

Cant deny that Dave has some seriously excellent solo material,
but I think we all know he was at his peak in that magical volatile
chemical mix that was Van Halen...
BABY PANA 2 IS Coming !! All across the land, let the love and beer flow !
                          Love ya Mary Frances!

This was a very boring and dumb thread start.

Dave's solo stuff was nowhere near as mean as his early stuff with VH but then again he was producing a lot of it in the late 80's - early 90's - a period where let's face it.....most music from this time sucks big time.
WAY too much production, "guest" songwriters & the general emphasis on hitmaking forced a lot of muso's to release music they otherwise wouldn't have.

Hot Dog & A Shake anyone....?
