Why didn't dave return to Van Halen?
Anybody know why DLR didn't return to VH? He could have saved it!

Listen it's simple. Dave wanted back in VH, VH was tempted and tried to in 96. But when they seen that the entire world stood up for Dave's return, Ed, Al and Mike felt like the back up singers. VH doesn't want to be controlled. But they need it. They need a person, like Dave, to say "no man, thats not gonna work here", or "I think your solo Ed, is a little too long" and "lets do a video like this". With Sam and Gary the band told them what to do. Dave is the frontman. Ed is guitar player, Al plays drums and Mike, well Mike just drinks and hits the odd low E. So out of all those four guys, who do you think should do all the talking in the press? The 3 guys that normally dont speak? Or the one guy that EVERYONE wants to listen to, when he does speak? Dave made VH, and brought VH to prominance. He deserves to ride that fucking horse into the sunset. And when it dies, he still deserves to eat it. That band is lost and confused without Dave. Roth wants back in, but he 'aint gonna kiss ass to do it.
It's the fact that Roth's attitude hasn't changed. Some, like Ed and Al, have convinced themselves that they are the be-all, end-all as to why Van Halen got big in the first place. They acted like they did Dave a favor in 1996, but the bigger truth is all four classic members would be doing all of us and themselves the biggest favor by putting this personal bullshit aside and reuniting.
Ed and Al have gotten to used to thinking of Van Halen as their band. Roth is a reminder of a time when someone else had as strong a voice in the band.
Beyond that, I really think Ed/Al and Roth just really don't like each other and never really did. Then again, it isn't always the nice guy who gets the job done.Scramby eggs and bacon.Comment

1) Dave's voice is shot and it took him 3 weeks to record 2 songs for BOV1.
2) Dave is no longer a viable creative force for Eddie to work with.
3) Dave is satisfied to live on past VH glories than to create new ones.
4) the band hates Dave as a person.

Dave just refuses to get down on his knees for Ed and Al. Spam has been trying to get back in for years, and apparently all the roses and nude pics of himself sent to Ed paid off. Ya know, I don't think VH could be saved at this point anyway, Ed hasnt come up with an original idea in 2 decades.Comment
