Yes this was my first time seeing him but he was in rare form. Definetly better sounding than the 2003 tours.
Dave in a way seemed a little more down to earth if thats possible.
He was thanking everyone and was all smiles. He actually wore some different outfits and did different skits that I hadnt seen before {Im a bootleg expert} so in a way it was very new and fresh, he did all the kicks flawlessy and did the baton for jump. The show was so much better than I could ever thought. Daves still got it and the band was smoking.
I think dave has a new gf and I think his daughter the porn star was there 2. It seems the naustolgic david lee roth big rock star atttitude from the samy dave tour is gone. Dave was still dave in rare form but better. The set list was as youve seen on her. Vocals...yes they could of been a little louder but I was in the front row so I could hear everything and he did sound alot better than any bootleg of the last 5 years. He did a few screams and hit the notes. Yes the verses of just like paradise were down an octave lower musically but dave still kicked all kinds of ass. I was so happy that I decided to stand 2 hours in the front before he came on. Anyone that gets a chance see david this tour hes kicking ass and his skits are fresh.

The show was a lot of fun. Having never seen Roth perform live, he's a great showman although walking off stage during "You Really Got Me" and then coming back on to introduce the band so early threw off the momentum of the first part of the show. After that the show picked up considerably and bringing out the blue grass dudes towards the end was a welcome surprise and he's much more comfortable performing with them than the Leno and Ferguson appearances a few weeks ago. Half way through the show his voice warmed up and his vocals were much stronger than they were in the beginning. Highlights for me were "Dance the Night Away" and "Panama".

The theater while kitted out with Nokia products and bars everwhere sucks as a music venue (it used to be a movie theater) and the sound system sucks period (worse than any other music venue in NYC and I've been to them all). The way the theater is set up makes for a very disjointed audience - there are seats in the back where, literally 2 people were dancing and then a huge walkthru area that remained virturally empty while the front was packed but not so packed that you couldn't weasel your way up to the front of the stage. Can't be too choosey but it would have been much better (and rocking) to see him at a venue like Irving Plaza.

As far as a girlfriend, no idea but the intern from his radio show was standing offstage with her mother with whom at one point David had a little randy repartee.

NYC:

Being the only Dave fan in my household, I was against odds with this show. I've seen Dave through the years, at the shows he did in NJ and NY.

While driving into the city with my brother and my father, I had Dave's show from July 6, 2006 playing. In my opinion, Dave did not sound good at that show. His voice sounded tired, and his spark and energy did not come through on that recording.

I was fully preparing myself for a less than stellar show.

I couldn't have been more wrong.

There was no opening band. Outside, the marquee glowed with jumbo-tron photos of Dave from '78 and Q-104.3 ads. Being there was no opening band, the security guards were somewhat discouraging people from going into the venue. I can only assume that's why at 8PM, the three of us were able to walk up close to the center stage area of the crowd. Chatted with a few great people, who were all ready for a kick ass show.

The hour wait passed by quickly in hopes to see Dave.

Being close...you get the glimpse of Dave in the wings....the drummer pops up, and the band starts rockin'. The opened with Hot For Teacher. You could tell they had a fire under their ass... Brian Young's playing was better than it had been in the past. It seems like he's really been practicing. Dave came out on stage already sweating.

I was suprised to hear that his yelps actually were pretty good for the first half of the show. I believe that over the years of hard boozing and drugs, the physical aspect of what allowed Dave to yelp like he did is gone. Pure shame, there are very few singers in the world that can acheive a sound like that. Towards the end of the night, the yelps became raspy and hoarse, rather than clear and high pitched.

Dave was a lot less egotistical, and much more appreciative toward the crowd, the band, and everyone in the wings. Towards the middle of the show, Dave asked for the stage lights to be kept on for the rest of the show, because the "band is working their fuckin' asses off..." It was nice to see that it wasn't "David Lee Roth...and coverband." The guys in the band seemed to enjoy themselves very much so. Smiles and laughter all around. Dave gave them much praise throughout the whole night.

The set list was hit, after hit including Unchained, Beautiful Girls, Everybody Wants Some, and many more. The set did not vary much from his other sets.

What I liked, yet many people in the crowd did not, was when Dave would break it down and talk with the crowd. He had the band play some bumper music in between songs, while Dave would change shirts, or talk to the crowd, etc... There were plenty of rowdy guys yelling to shut the fuck up and play. Dave went right along with his stories and paid no mind to any hecklers.

Toward the end of the show, he stopped the set and brought out his bluegrass band. For such loyal fans in the crowd who paid $50 a ticket, I heard more bad mouthing at this part than anything else. It could possibly be that I happen to like bluegrass...and I really appreciate Dave taking his music in a different direction. The bluegrass band played Jump and Jamie's Cryin'. (If I remember correctly...) It was evident that Dave wanted to expose these great musicians to a mass public. They are all amazing players, that wouldn't have gotten the chance to get the exposure they are now. It goes to show that if the music is good, it can transcend any genre.

Dave closed the show rockin' the night away. He was very appriciative.

After the show, both my brother and my father said, "Damn...that was a great show." SUCCESS!!! I think I'm slowly coverting them over. They were really impressed with Dave, the band, and how great the whole package was.

Got home, went to my fiance's house, turned on Conan...there was Dave. Perfect!! You can never have too much Dave in one day.

If I left any major details out, it's just the fact that I'm typing this off the cuff and don't really remember.

"Dance The Night Away"--he told a different story about how he came up with this song. It wasn't the same story as the one he told on CMT.com. Today's version of how he came up with this song was that he was taking a break from one of the 5, 6 sets that VH played every night for 5 nights a week in the '70s. He and the rythm section guys were leaning against a bright yellow pickup truck. He's drinking Jack Daniels when he noticed cops were coming and he quickly moved to hide his JD bottle in the back of the truck. He felt something soft and looked to see a couple in the truck going at it. He advised them to run before the cops would see them. When he returned to the club, he saw that same girl from the truck dancing all night not realizing that in her haste to escape, she had put her on her pants backwards.

What else? The vocals were very low. Dave asked several times that his vocals be turned up and that the stage lights be on for the rest of the show. The lights remained on, but the vocals were still barely audible. He asked us several times if we could hear him.

I've so much going through my head right now, but I'll leave off here. Oh yes, Animal and Hutch were at the show, too. Feel free to ask me questions about the show.

What chan said. The vocals for Dave were a bit low, and the vocals for the bass player were a bit high. Dave was in great spirits, and looked great. The band f-ing ROCKS. DeGrasso on drums is killer! I wish Dave woulda played "Ice Cream Man" just to shut up the fat piece of shit behind me screaming how he needed to stay "cool in the summer"... what a douche. Anyways, I had great fun, and Dave rocked!

I'm really pissed at myself that I got to miss the NYC show. I had a proir commitment and I couldn't go.

As far as the bluegrass stuff, I'm really glad Dave has the balls to try different stuff and take chances. One of my favorite albums of his is Your Filthy Little Mouth. He was really diverse on that album and I can't see why poeple panned it. I wish he would actually play some stuff off of that album.

Anyway, if I would have went to last nights show in NYC I would have taped it. I hope somebody snuck a DAT recorder in and taped it. I'd love to hear it.

were in town for the Conan gig, I don't think people need to worry
