What happened was before Sarge went to Iraq he asked Von and I to merge the sites and look after the Army whilst he was away.

You were maybe a mod at DDLR at the time so saw the discussions about this. I was all for it but the majority of the mods and webmasters over there were against it some of them like Von because they liked the small site thing but some I think because of the status thing.

Von was super cool enough to leave it to me to make the final decision and in the end I said no. Partly because I didn't feel it was up to me to run over what most of the rest of them wanted plus some other issues with Ray Luzier at the time who was by that point a personal friend of Von and to a lesser extent myself and had fallen out with Sarge.

There you go you have baited out of me stuff I probably shouldn't be posting in a public forum you bastard...:D

In hindsight my gut instinct was right and we should have merged at that point. It was a mistake but I can hold my head up high as I made it on pretty moral grounds and the fucking opposite of trying to get 'status' for myself.

I don't think Sarge was too pleased with my decision either and he then turned to Mezro to do it, the CVH internet equivalent of fucking Caligula. I guess he feels I let him down which I understand.

I can't believe all this stuff is being posted in a fucking Den thread...

and why Mezro was brought in is absolutely pure speculation...on anyone's part...

I talked to Sarge via phone throughout the process...

Nor am I gonna say Dave was right for filing that bullshit lawsuit... and I'm not gonna defend him for that... but I think he felt betrayed to a certain extent... that's why he did that... and I can't blame him for it... because he really did alot for ddlr.com in it's prime... i don't think he was given a fair exit.... IMO

You're saying DDLR like it's a separate entity. I would guess that it would have been Conmee who would have done it.

Dude I'm not in any way at all trying to score points here or set out some agenda in any way at all.

I'm only posting what was my impression of the situation and I had maybe three or four 45 minute chats with Sarge at the time.

I'm very much out of the loop as regards why and wherefore of the Mezro thing. I think I know what you and Brownsound thought of him. I chatted with him myself for a an hour or so one night and there were alarm bells ringing all over the place...

If I have one little criticism of the Army it is that there has always as long as I can remember ging back 6 years a culture of secrecy. I've never been very good at that.

I've tried to be as honest as possible in this thread and the DDLR one here over the last couple of nights because a vacuum on the internet always gets filled with shit. That and I'm serously thinking of bowing out of all this stuff at least for a while.

We'll need to agree to differ on that. I would be tempted to bring the site up for a day to prove you wrong but I'm pretty sure all of that stuff is part of the 250 000 posts that our host lost due to a 'virus'.

In it's own fucked up way the sites ended up mirroring the band which is ironic but at least without the bitterness.

This isn't about me I've always just been a clown with some smartass comments. The people that matter are the ones that record Roth's lost radio show, or videos of his cuntry shit or whatever.

On the whole they ahve been doing it for our site rather than the Army.

I think the Roth Army suffered from losing Von, it suffered from losing Twona and it suffered from losing Walker and some other folk too who spend ludicrous amounts of time getting content together.

How many times have there been threads here over the last couple of years linking to exclusive audio or whatever at DDLR? Of course we took a little pride in that but it's pretty dumb.

The more I think about it any remaining reasons for having two sites have now disappeared.

I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with this but my percerption was that DDLR was a bit more Roth music centered. Maybe if those people came back here then there would be less concern about this site being percieved as being a little off focus these days and there wouldn't be huge threads about the Sheep Pen or whatever? Before you get pissed off with me for example last time I looked there were a few posts about Roths gigs in the last couple of weeks. A few posts...

At DDLR there were twice as many with pics.

I think the some of the parts may be greater than the whole and get things back to where they should be.

That said I'm not happy about a few hundred thousand posts disappearing and I think the DDLR download forum was much better than that here. Plus we had all the radio stuff. Maybe we should all sit down and work out a way to have it all here?
