I'm not saying do a EEAS band set but he should throw some of that stuff out there and give them free reign on the instrumentals.
Segway out of one of the Beck jams into Tobacco Road. Better yet, just open the show with it!

He probably randomly sang those few verses JLP low to "relax the pipes" for a moment!

Well that could be a thread in itself.

I don't think he needs to play for the money but I also think the huge smiles every night are a show too.

          Who knows...?

Great reiview - what I like best was the fact that it was balanced.

Good to see that Dave can still kick and scream!

It's also good that he seems more "up for it" than in recent years, which a lot of the vids posted in other threads have shown to be the case.

Maybe he's motivated enough for a new record?

PA intro: Blaxploitation 1970s movie-soundtrack style intro

Thought it was from his Backyard BBQ? The one where he was twirling the swords and spears?

Nice call on everything Terry, especially in regards to Toshi. Talk about driving a top fuel dragster down a jogging trail. Why have all that firepower if you're not going to use it?

Dave just needs to get over the fact that Van Halen is never going to reconcile their differences and perform with him again. Move forward and carry on with what worked for Van Halen on Fair Warning and to some extent 1984, because nobody is doing that sound now. Its not because nobody isn't interested either. Right now there is no real rock n' roll band performing in the full-on party mode like Van Halen did with Roth.

He NEEDS to go to the studio and let Brian and Toshi have some input and keep Todd in there too. Jimmy is a fine addition, but he's not Ray. In short the band he has right now is as tight as I've ever seen him with and I'd like to hear what they could do in a studio.

The only other thing that you didn't mention was that Dave was recording the show. There were mics on both sides of the stage picking up the crowd, and at one point he even stated, "Hey...we're recording this" as an afterthought and not an attempt to whip up the crowd. The crowd was disappointly small, but it was one of the LOUDEST shows as far as the crowd particapting that I've ever been to.

Its a shame that he only did Orlando this time, but hey...we saw THE man and that's all that counts.

If he was recording, does that mean that there will be a live record?

I'd like to see a live record + DVD combo.

Gee, I wonder why Dave never thought of that...

It's amazing the number of experts we have around here...

If poor Dave would only take your advice, he'd be riding off into the sunset more successful than ever...

                          That's not telling me much...

Did he do any screams in those songs ??

The only really odd thing he did, far as singing went, was during Just Like Paradise, where he sang the verses in a lower, more conversational tone/octave than on the album...it just sounded weird to me, and I couldn't remember if he had done that last November or not.

Oh, Dave did his patented deep talking with the occasional odd high pitched yelp ??

                          Don't tell me...

And who cares about that crappy song anyway ??

The rest of the tunes were done pretty much the same as they were originally recorded, far as Dave went.

                          I highly doubt that...

Everyone who was there got off.

                          On what ??

I mean, if his attitude towards roadwork these days is one of punching the clock, grabbing the money and beating it out of town, than he's a pretty good actor, because I don't sense that at all.

Dave has never been that kind of performer, to my knowledge...

Put it to you this way: he's capable of doing a CVH reunion, singing those tunes and giving bang for the buck. Not that I think he's gonna get the chance to, but maybe that's for the best, anyway.

                          It's inevitable...
