Why do think Dave hasn't added any new songs to set list

One thing I really like about seeing Dave in recent years is that he plays a loy of older songs. I believe that in the 99 Finland show he even played a few songs that are not in the current set list. I realize that the set list is shorter now then it was then. I don't mean to sound like a complainer but there is so much material that Dave could do. I also realize that his voice is differnt now and there may be songs that he doesn't feel like he may be able to pull off today but I would really like to hear Dirty Movies, So this is Love, Beautiful Girls, Take your whiskey home. I think it would be cool to throw in a different one once in a while. Again I really appriciate just seeing Dave and his band but he has soooo many that he could do not to mention the solo stuff.

Seems like he did 3 out of 4 of those songs last month. I distinctly remember Beautiful Girls, Dave singing...."Got my toes in the sand, got my dick in my hand...."

Like most bands, he'll only play songs from albums that you can still buy. What's the use in playing a song he can't make $$ on? Every one of those songs are on albums that i've seen at Best Buy recently.

He doesn't want to. That's it.

Hate to point out the painfully obvious, but in all honesty?

That's what it boils down to.

        Don't shoot the messenger.

            Pretty clear to me...

Those are the songs that the majority of people that go to see him want to hear....

BTW, I'm not counting us fanatics as part of that crowd, we're a little, shall we say, "different".... :D

you know the average person wants to hear the top 15 songs. thats what they paid for.

i go see him every time he is near LA, so his shows are now BORING to me because its been the same thing since what..2002?

sure i'd love to hear ALAE, maybe...you never know..slam dunk...throw a little thug pop in the mix..who knows..i'd love to hear the semi popular..opscure stuff....light up the sky...on fire...

problem is that he also cant sing like that anymore..

I've been listening to pretty much the same set for about (AAARGH!) 28 years now. It never gets old. Besides, I would never ask Mozart to change his set list.

Maybe he will try to sing them in Blue Grass style.

Dave's in touch with what the crowd wants to hear and thats what he plays.

I would love to hear him bust out Fair Warning from start to finish, but that ain't gonna happen.

I'm pretty sure Dave can afford to buy the rights to the unavailable stuff, make it available and play some different stuff live. Drop the caberet-esque performance of "Just A Gigolo", for example.

                          My wishful thinking,

Maybe he saving the other songs for when Ed shows up?!?

                          Of well, maybe not.

I bitch about the same thing, even though I do realize that at this stage of the game, he's probably going with what he (accurately) thinks most people coming to his shows WANT to hear.

I'd love to hear the bust out with Dirty Movies, if only because CVH never even played it live far as I know, but probably many in the audience would be scratching their heads -

His setlist is pretty much a safe bet in terms of virtually every tune being instantly recognizable to the crowds turning out these days.

I still have a good time at his shows, bored with the setlist as I may be.
