I don't expect exact performance. I expect to sing in tune. The voice IS an instrument. This is well known, except to the ignorant. Don't take it as an offense, though, you're not supposed to be musically trained or have a good relative/perfect pitch.
People paid to attend those shows. It's ok for the smokescreen to jump, make the drum riser and make a couple of worn out jokes to the public, it's ok to wank over a whiskey bottle, but the people paid to hear David Lee Roth sing. I am sure he is not training as every other musician who love his audience does, he believes he can hide the voice problems he has with a good show. You surely can, but to me that means no respect for the music lovers in the audience. If I want to be comically or spectacularly entertained, I go watch a Kung Fu movie or a show in a Cabaret pub.
Also "great technicians" who can copy somebody else's work, (Paganini/ Rachmaninov/ Bach or anyone else they chose to learn to play note perfect) have never really impressed me much - I don't hear any human element in there.
Just my opinion..... [/B]http://images.usatoday.com/life/_pho...07/11/imus.jpg

Thank-you for your response, it made me think, and you obviously know way more about music (in the technical sense of the word) than I do.
However, you say that Dave sings out of tune (I'll take your word for it), and that it takes a trained ear to really notice that. Ok. Then you say that Dave is not giving people who have paid to see him their money's worth because he is out of tune. But surely, if most people do not have trained ears and cannot tell that Dave is out of tune there, then he is not really ripping them off?
Once again, thank-you for the response, I will have to search out more virtuoso guitar performances to see what you mean about the different performances of the same piece. The Power Of The Riff Compels MeComment

Hey Fatfuck !
Scutinize Dave all you want. Roth on a bad night is still more entertaining than Tubby McHagar on a "good" one.
BTW , you win the award for "GAYEST SIG. IN THE DLR ARMY"
now run upstairs and tell uncledaddy how smart you are.
Nice alias "ritetool" !Trolls take heed...LOG OUT & FUCK OFF!!!
