DLR is Playing Fresno, CA w/2 Opening Acts

It's about time some decent acts open for Dave. Half the fun of going to concerts is having to anticipate Dave taking the stage after the other talent plays first, which is usually mediocre, but in this case, you've got Marshall Tucker (although not all the original members), but a great enough band along with Shooter Jennings, who himself is a rising star and the Late Waylon Jennings son.

They should have booked Dave's gigs like this early on if they could - his audience draw would have been more lucrative.

Guess someone will be dressed as SPAMtard in the audience since it will be on Halloween weekend!

I'm not possitive but i think it would be up to Dave if and when he
    wanted opening acts

when Dave tours i think it's his gig, he is the promoter and leader of the show, i believe.

I always think of Dave as a Sole -Proprietorship or a S-Corp type of
a Show he is the Boss-Man not a Record Label or Promoter or
Agent .Dave is in-charge of the whole scoop..Yes/No..?

I'm not saying he -wings- it, there is alot of thought and he has
agents and sales personel and such but i am almost shure
    Dave calls all the shots..?

You're probably right. I was assuming that Elaine Shock, who is his publicist, along with being so-called managed by Matt Sencio would help make some of the decisions or at least suggest to Dave what would best be to his benefit as far as audience draw.

Terry Kilgore gave me the insight that for the most part, DLR is fully aware of the audience capacity of certain tour venues.

I would just think that the only reason SPAMtard got an audience of 16,000 was because he co-headlined with Styx (was it Styx?).

I don't think SPAM can draw anywhere near 16,000 SOLO (and minus Bassplayer).

It was REO i think and REO can still pull those # when paired with
another decent act.? yeah to some Hagar is decent..?

The Crew and Aerosmith will pull larger #'s.

I think Dave would pull larger # with a new album but he just kinda
seems to like the smaller venues and doing a solo act .

I think that is somewhat because he like to be his own boss and
doesn't want to start a big huge production with larger venues and'
more acts and this and that, he knows he can't do it all, at that point
and would loose creative control of the tour.

Plus i do think he wants that, but he may only want to give up control
and his grip on the $ if VH reunites..?

It takes 1000 people to put on a tour like 45,000 seat places/ stadium size and run around the world with it.

No one man could do that.Dave has great experience and working
knowlege of the rock act scene ..

I'll bet if VH ever reunited Dave would give a few ideas and we would
be watching one of the greatest shows in the history of rock shows.

Is Dave bringing the bluegrass crew with him for that gig? Sounds like it would be the perfect audience for it.

Hmmmm that's an interesting question. My hunch tells me Dave will be All Rock that night, although with the other two opening acts, he could easily slip the Rockabilly versions of Jamie's Cryin in there.

Marshall Tucker was a hot band in the day and still gets mediocre play on Classic Rock Stations. I haven't heard Shooter Jennings, but I have read reviews he's pretty good.

I think it makes Dave look good to have some good opening acts hit the stage before him. Gives the country bunkers their satisfaction, while the rest of the Rockers are getting psyched for Dave's appearance. This is a good for Dave. Let's everyone know the hierarchy and that Dave is still IT! Always Save the BEST for LAST.

Funny...I was thinking the same thing at the DTE gig this weekend Ban....

DAVE needs new management...even though the young band he had with him were good...they didn't draw a single fan.....

It'd help the attendance out A LOT if DAVE took acts out with some drawing power of their own...SHOOTER is excellent......

                I agree.

I think a "name brand" opening act can only compliment the Main

Event and it keeps Dave on his toes to work alittle harder when he hits

the stage, cuz he already knows the crowd is warmed up and enjoyed

the previous band (hopefully) - so Dave knows his performance has

got to make it count and be that much more Stellar!

Shooter is the man. Him and Dave partying together... now, THAT would be cool!
