His next invention will be to replace all 6 tuning pegs with lit cigs.

To tune the stings, puff accordingly.

What a freak. I bet his lungs look like two bags of of wet feces.

Dave should just skip Ed and do some big name side project. I'm pretty sure there are some dudes from various rock bands just dying to work with him

Basically Dave should avoid working with anyone that looks like death warmed over.

Hey, at least Ed broke out Franky for the second video shoot...

Some decent (and I'll stress 'decent') guitar work in the first one... the song structure reminds me of Respect The Wind prior to the drums kicking in, minus the production values. Second bit has a couple of ideas that might have made a good tune if fleshed out a bit more...

If this is where Ed's at with his music these days, Dave probably shouldn't even bother. The more Ed has assumed the production responsibilities over the years, the more indulgent he's gotten, and not really to any particular benefit, either.

Ed needs the outside ear of a non-yes man to help whittle down the waffle. Not strictly referring to Dave here, but just someone who could cut through the chaff and get to the wheat.

I think when the original VH gets together in a studio and jams, it will most likely SOUND like VAN HALEN!

Despite the fact that Ed's head is into some strange cord arrangements, making music for porn, etc.

I truly believe that the magic is there when the FOUR of them play together. The 'old' VH playing just comes together.

Mike confirmed this when he commented on the Roth 2000 sessions as they broke into "Mean Street", and he said "that's the magic right there!" or something like that.

Yeah, but there's a difference between the four of them reuniting and rehearsing old material that they all used to be able to play in their sleep (and material Dave has been playing live regularly since 1999) and having that come off sounding good (I'd expect no less from them) as opposed to them coming up with new stuff that excites as much as the old...

I mean, those two new porn tunes remind me of Van Halen 3, in that one of the hardest things about VH3 to deal with outside of the horrible production was just that it came off as a hodge-podge of ideas that weren't really hammered down and refined to provide maximum impact - it was Ed's album, Ed was at the helm (regardless of the Mike Post production credit), and it seems when Ed is left to his own devices, his songwriting lacks focus.

My concern is that if Ed runs the musical end of the show should CVH try some new material, especially if he insists on producing it, the result will be...well, maybe the chemistry of the classic four will outweigh EVH's current spaced-out approach.

ed is a lousy songwriter...and an even worse producer...

you can see how much the music changed when dave left and also how much it changed again when hagar the horrible left...ed NEEDS somebody to get his shit into a direction (whaddayagot, eddie?)

same with his producing "skills"...he wanted to do the mix for the live album and couldn't get it together...then some producer went in and made ed cry like a baby because he could do something in a few minutes ed couldn't do in weeks of trying...that's why it took months to put the three abortions for the BOBW album together...

ed is good in throwing out ideas...fragments...but needs somebody to structure it...I guess the ten albums in the can material is unstructured shit...

Not too shabby, as far as the actual guitar playing goes...

                          I don't think Edward is hopeless...yet...

You can see he still has the passion for music but when his little song is done there's frustration and anger. Not the sign of a happy person.

Notice his amp said 5150 III. Must have been the next EVH Peavey project. Hartley Peavey had class when he said when you do projects with the caliber of artists like EVH, you ae lucky to get a ten year deal with them. He said Ed was one of the most interesting people he has ever worked with and Peavey learned a lot from him on guitar design and amp design. Ed was good for Peavey. Their stuff did get better because of the EVH endorsement deals.
No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!
