It will air on VH 1 sometime in the early spring, March, I think.

Unfortunately it will be a delayed telecast, and will probably only show a portion of any performance from the band, as has been the case in the last several years.

As to the question of the Ched Rocker being inducted, I'd like to believe that the Black Sabbath precedent will hold up in this case. It was Ozzy, Tony, Geezer, and Bill. Not Dio, not Vinny Appice, not Ian Gillan, and certainly not any of the nobodies who played on the lame albums Iommi made from 1986 - 1995.

I liked the Dio and Gillan albums myself, but it was the right thing to do. Because it was what the original Sabbath brought to the table that made them worthy of the Hall of Fame.

Just as the innovation of Van HALEN is the reason for their induction. It's the fact that Dave & Eddie were the blueprints for an entire generation of musicians that is important, not a bunch of top 40 shit like "How Do I Know When It's Cheese?"

Fuck Sammy. Let him lobby for a Montrose induction.

Panamark, can they do that? Induct the original band only? I hope so. I don't want Sammy anywhere near this. And I don't think Van Hagar would ever get an induction based on that era alone anyway. Only half the album sales of CVH, no world tours, no longer an influence on others etc.

Who actually gets the votes in the Hall of Fame selection? If it's musicians, then that's probably a good thing. When MTV asked the "Dave or Sammy" question back in 1996, I can't remember any musician preferring Hagar, incuding some who actually claimed Sammy as a friend.

Yeah, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction could be a big disaster. A very similar scenario to the VMAs of 10 years ago...Sammy's out, Dave's apparently in..what's next. Perhaps they'll get Sass Jordan this time. :D

Unfortunately the precedents are inconsistent. As I mentioned before, the Original Black Sabbath was inducted, but no later members. While on the other hand, Fleetwood Mac's induction included both the Peter Green and Buckingham/Nicks eras, but not the 2 or three other short lived lineups in the middle, nor the ill fated late 80's lineup after Lindsey and Stevie left.

And the Stones apparently insisted that Mick Taylor and Ronnie Wood be included when the original proposal was for only their original lineup.

Unfortunately that gives Tequila Boy a 50/50 chance
