        No hammer-ons on that solo?
It's got to be a really old concert!

Different for sure. A bit overdone with the echo for my tastes. But he was very young and still learning his sound.

Always interesting to listen to Ed back in the day. Damn shame they've never cleaned up any of the club days recordings for an official release.

Don't they know how well "official" versions of the pre-'78 stuff would sell?

I'd never heard it either. It kicks major ass!
I don't mind the tons of effects here.
That said, contrary to "Eruption", it cannot stand as a tune, because it sounds like a succession of plans.

BTW, the 3'32''-long version you hear on "The Atomic Punks" (Pasadena, Dec. 1977), the first boot I ever bought - and still my fave - is a true "development" of the track released on Van Halen I.
Anyway, I'll try hard to get these 1975 fireworks!

Not really that interesting far as the 1975 performance goes, but useful in that I started futzing around YouTube off of the link and saw what was titled 1978 performance footage of Ed doing Eruption - had never seen that before.

If this was 1975, the technique or thought of eruption was not all there yet. Eruption was a warm up excercise for Eddie and this obviously may have been an original until the thought of getting it to erupt precisely to be used as a solo.

All my opinion. But fact is, Eruption was not meant to be a solo and was used as a warm up.

No kidding! A series of live vault titles would be GREAT!! Hell, sell 'em through an official website and I'd be all over it.
