My predictions for how it will go down with Sammy in the press if this reunion happens:

1. First he'll say he's heard "rumors" about this happening and that he just sees it as the brothers' attempt at trying to spite him because of the whole "Other Half / Mikey likes me better" scenario.

2. Then he'll say he hopes Dave is ready for what he's about to take on with Eddie because Eddie is no longer "user friendly" and is in need of a "serious overhaul."

3. Then he'll say how this tour will be no better than what Dave's been doing for years with his "nostalgia trip" and "living off his past" and then he'll throw in some unkind words regarding Dave's "look."

4. Then he'll talk about how he's given Mikey his blessing to do the tour for the fans and that he shouldn't expect much from Dave & the brothers.

5. Finally, anger will settle in as the reunion comes to fruition and he'll give his prediction ("I give it 2 weeks tops!") of how long it will last.

As you can see it will be textbook Hagar. I just wonder if Dave will give us some of his classic quips regarding Hagar or if he'll take the high road and just let the music AND the tour stats do the talking?

We all know, aside from being pro-Dave, that if VH does a CVH reunion, Sammy will be completely forgotten. Don't set your perception on the fact that Sam will give this a blessing. In fact, I believe he'll do just the opposite and try to destroy this chance.

I can't stress enough how important it is that the contract for the reunion get signed before the Hall of Fame induction. I really believe that if it happens after, that it won't happen.

Here's my speculation on it:
Signed contract prior to induction?
CVH + Sammy is there to accept. Sam and Dave get competitive (outloud, publically) over who's going to perform, Ed steps in and either chooses for them (totally embarassing one) or makes them compromise. All the while the audience is suffering from awkward silence. But with a signed contract, Sam can't talk anyone out of the reunion activities and Dave has less of a reason to embarass them enough to get kicked out again. (I LOVE Dave but he's got a big mouth yall...I'm not even going to try to deny that.)

No Signed contract prior to induction?
The same scenerio plays out on stage and no one is being held to do a damn thing with CVH or Sam....

I was fucking pissed off over that shit. (Yeah, I took it personal)

When I saw them walk on stage, crowd on its feet...I literally got tears in my eyes. I was 26, young enough to go to the reunion concert, make a complete fool of myself, basically have my cake and eat it to.

Then to find out that they fell out over who got to talk the most? WTF? Are you fucking kidding me? I just couldn't believe those idiots stood there and saw the reception that they got, the people going NUTS over them just standing in the same place at the same time.... and fell out over WORDS!! I don't care if it was over Dave's lack of candor involving Ed's hip...(can you HEAR my eyes rolling at that?)...or if Dave supposedly acted wild onstage...(is he not FAMOUS for that?)...PLEASE! How many pascifyers were needed that night to keep the baby's from crying?

They didn't just fuck Dave that night. They fucked all of us! Anyone who was excited about the possiblity of getting that show, a recording, something to validate the years of fandom barely out of middle school. I felt like I'd just been rode hard and put up wet.

Not only did I NOT get the reunion, but I got lied to, and embarassed.

And to this day, I'm still miffed that there hasn't been some sort of apology from those bastards for making such asses out of themselves. Because I honestly believe, still today, that the whole shitbag was nothing more than a ploy to sell the next 2 albums. I think they got Dave on that stage, and on the Greatest Hits to sell albums and that's it. They were hoping that him being on the GH would get us comfortable with the next Van Hagar album.

And He would be pretty much right on all counts. A CVH reunion would be great but it won't last past a dozen dates and if EVH sucks as bad as he did in 2004 maybe sooner. The EVH factor will be what will kill ticket sales. Quite possibly his kid on bass as well.

Rant as much as you like. That is a great post that sums up how CVH fans felt back in 1996. I'm just a little older than you and have been a fan since 1981, so after all those years of putting up with 'Bland Halen' I know exactly how you feel. It was clearly a move by the brothers to sell their BOV1. Still can't believe they did that to their fans.

And I totally agree with you on Sammy attempting to derail this. Anyone who has read the excerpts from his book on the Net know just what a manipulative, scheming, self-serving bastard he is.
