    Hall Of Fame-pick 5 Out Of 9

    No Monkees again???

The nine nominees for possible induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have been announced - and fans of neglected acts including the Monkees, ABBA, KISS, Chicago, the Ventures, the Moody Blues and our hometown J. Geils Band are infuriated again this year.

This year’s crop of wannabe inductees: R.E.M., Van Halen, Chic, the Dave Clark Five, Joe Tex, Patti Smith, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, the Ronettes and the Stooges.

The nominees’ worthiness will be determined by a vote of 500 music industry bigwigs, who will send five of the nine into the Hall of Fame at a ceremony on March 12, 2007 in the Apple (even though the tourist trap museum is located in Cleveland, a place music industry bigwigs make sure to avoid year after year).

VAN HALEN, REM, STOOGES, CHIC, DAVE CLARK FIVE

    Hmmmmm

Remember this is a PC world we live in.
I say they get voted on in this order:

REM, Grand Master Flash, Patti Smith, The Stooges, Van Halen

All bases are covered with that vote as to not offend anyone or group.

        My predictions:

        R.E.M.
        Van Halen
        Chic
        Patti Smith
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five
        the Stooges.

The Monkees will never be inducted because (hello) they weren't an actual BAND - at least not at first.

And Chicago, again has the issue of revolving door membership. This seems to be the #1 factor in delaying induction for bands who are overdue. And Chicago also has the wuss out factor, which is arguably even worse than Van Hagar's. But there's no question that the original lineup with Terry Kath deserves the consideration.

It's a crime that the Ventures haven't been nominated, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of love for instrumentals in the Hall......

          Patti Smith
          Dave Clark Five
          Van Halen
          Ronnettes
          Grandmaster Flash

Stooges are great and REM has been great at times but it's not their year... Chic could sneak in as well, they have a lot of industry respect. If they do I suspect they'll knock out VH

If Dave was announced as the singer in Van Halen AND a tour with new music were in the headlines....they'd be a lock.

Holy Smoke FORD. I didn't know you liked The Ventures. I grew up on that stuff, my father was a huge fan. Best selling instrumental group of all time.

My father had the one with "More" on it. It's the album where they're in animal suits.
                  Played it all the time.

Hey BS, do you play their work on guitar?

If Eddie's fat kid is the bass player VH don't deserve to be inducted.
