    "CVH" reunion with Wolfie rumors

If all this speculation about Ed, Al, Dave and Wolfie turns out to be true, and they do hit the road as Van Halen with that lineup...well, have been semi-grappling with the question of if I'd actually want to see it or not...

And one person posted that we've been subjected to various incomplete lineups touring as Van Halen, or the other Half, or the Sam and Dave show, and that the ONLY reason to bother with it is if Ed, Al, Dave and Mike hit the stage (while others have said that Wolfie in the band actually makes it more of Van Halen because of his last name)...

I'm just gonna take a pass on anything 'Van Halen' that doesn't have all four classic members. About the only way I'd see a Wolfie lineup is if it were so close to my house, on a Saturday night, and tickets were $25 or less, and I'd be treating it as a Dave solo show with some special guests. And I'd probably just rather see THAT on a bootlegged dvd than haul my sorry old ass out to the St.Pete Ice Palace, to be honest. It'd basically be the novelty of seeing Ed and Dave onstage again, and the deciding factor would be wondering if this was Ed's Last Waltz, but without Mike it has a freak show atmosphere to it, in many ways worse than the freak show of 1996 (which at least had the benefit of all four participating)...

All or nothing. No such thing as a little bit pregnant. Get Mike aboard, seal the deal, or just leave it alone.

In spite of what EVH might want to believe, "Van Halen" the band is completely unrelated to anyone's family name at this point. Wolfgang is a member of the Van Halen family, not the band Van Halen.

Without the 4 original members I would rather see the 'Punks. I'm not interested in anything but the original lineup and that is the only lineup I would pony up any serious cash for. Even that is questionable given how bad EVH performed on the last tour

Perhaps this is why I think it was a brilliant move on Dave's part to name the Band by the namesake.

Your quote is exactly how I feel about the situation...."Van Halen" family is just that...a family name. It only has a royalty image behind the name when you are speaking of the band (1978 - 1985).

Without ROTH & Anthony being identified as "VH", the name means something from the past.

Ed's latest pop-tart Porn Publicist/Girlfriend thinks she's found her pot of gold. I read a blog of hers stating when she becomes "Rich" she won't have to work so much.

Well, honey, I hate to burst your breast pimples, but in the world of ROCK n' ROLL (Not PORN)...Rock Stars retain their title not only by their talent, but also their demeanor. In order for Ed Van Halen to retain his name as "Royalty", it only works when ROTH & ANTHONY are part of this team, with Al, of course.

Other than that...you might have a washed up guy with a dutch last name and nicotine breath on your hands, living off the old royalties of what used to be. Nothing in comparison of what COULD be.

Couldn't have said it any better. Now is the time. 96 was totally blown. 10 years later they have one more chance.

Sure, I'd love to see a full CVH reunion but I won't miss a Dave show because bass player isn't invited along. To see Dave in a big venue again, with a big crowd and a big sound, I won't miss it. In fact, I'll be going to more than one show.

I respect all the die-hard CVH loyalists but aren't you here mostly because you're a Dave fan? And you're admitting that you'd purposely miss one of his shows (and the biggest he's done in more than a decade)? What's up with that?? I just don't get it. Stick to your guns all you want. Me, I'm going to see Dave play with EVH. If I'm disappointed I'll let you all know after the shows. What you won't hear from me is regrets that I missed them all together. The whole time I've been wanting a CVH reunion it's been about Dave and Ed playing together again. Bass Player??? I'll miss his solo/beer tent interlude, for the cold beer. I'll just have to go during Al's solo because it's not like he'll do anything new.

I keep reassuring myself that the music business bods WON'T let this happen without MA. But this is fuckin Van Halen- can you imagine? After all these years and now it's the bass player that they won't let it. FFS.

Let's face it, love him or hate him, it's not a CVH reunion without MA. Indeed with that fat kid on bass the whole thing would likely descend into farce.
