If all this speculation about Ed, Al, Dave and Wolfie turns out to be true, and they do hit the road as Van Halen with that lineup...well, have been semi-grappling with the question of if I'd actually want to see it or not...
And one person posted that we've been subjected to various incomplete lineups touring as Van Halen, or the other Half, or the Sam and Dave show, and that the ONLY reason to bother with it is if Ed, Al, Dave and Mike hit the stage (while others have said that Wolfie in the band actually makes it more of Van Halen because of his last name)...
I'm just gonna take a pass on anything 'Van Halen' that doesn't have all four classic members. About the only way I'd see a Wolfie lineup is if it were so close to my house, on a Saturday night, and tickets were $25 or less, and I'd be treating it as a Dave solo show with some special guests. And I'd probably just rather see THAT on a bootlegged dvd than haul my sorry old ass out to the St.Pete Ice Palace, to be honest. It'd basically be the novelty of seeing Ed and Dave onstage again, and the deciding factor would be wondering if this was Ed's Last Waltz, but without Mike it has a freak show atmosphere to it, in many ways worse than the freak show of 1996 (which at least had the benefit of all four participating)...
All or nothing. No such thing as a little bit pregnant. Get Mike aboard, seal the deal, or just leave it alone.
