Never had any use for the Doors myself but I love Dave's cover of Soul Kitchen. The production on this CD is also great. Having said that, don't expect Fair Warning II or even DLR Band II. This ain't it. It's a CD of covers which shows Dave's taste in music. Still I think it's a cool one!

This album flat-out sucks. Anyone who likes this would buy Dave farting into a microphone for $16.99.
Look I appreciate the facets of Dave. The user "damngoodtimes" awhile back brought to my attention that Dave isn't just about hard rock, he does other styles. I understand that, but honestly I don't like his other styles. I like Dave the rock star. That is not to say that within that, he can't incorporate a bunch of other stuff. He always has and it's great. But I like Dave as first and foremost as a rocker. I'm really not interested in hearing him do a lounge act or watching him look foolish doing techno.Comment

And beyond that this album was completely pointless. It's not like Aerosmith's (yeah I know their music of the last 20 years blows) Honkin' On Bobo where there's at least the semblance of wanting to do a blues album because...they want to do blues for a change. This album I did not get the feeling AT ALL that Dave did this intentionally because he really, really wanted to do some more covers again and do some musical exploration. What I feel is that he didn't like the music Brian and Ray were writing--remember how the band was supposedly working on new material--and he just wanted to get SOMETHING out so he rushed an album of covers.
Like at least with YFLM, you get the feeling that he legitimately wanted to try sometihng different. The result was mixed but it was at least an honest attempt at different styles. This...I don't get that feeling whatsoever. He's done SOOO many covers with Van Halen and solo, I don't see why he'd want to do MORE covers, to sincerely try to branch out as a musician.
You know why you like "Soul Kitchen"? Because the ORIGINAL was a damn good song.Comment

Best viewed as Crazy from the Heat II.
I like it.
I'm not some Roth apologist that would like anything he does but I like the guys voice and it's on the whole a good choice of covers.
Like just about everyone else here though I would have much preferred a proper album. I cling to my every second album theory with Dave where he tends to go Van Halen, something else Van Halen eg
CFTH..........EEAS
SS..............ALAE
YFLM..........DLR Band
DDLR..........??????
Cheers!

As far as booze, if you didn't mind the drive, Pixley did sell Beer. Mr. Haney, well you could buy anything from him but he's rather expensive.
