Am I the only one?

The more I read these threads, the more I think i am the only Van Halen AND DLR fan here that doesn't hate Sammy. Granted, there is no comparison between VH1 - 1984 vs 5150- current. The best VH albums ever made were with Dave. Period. No Contest. But I actually liked 5150 and OU812 a lot. Hell, i loved those albums. More than EAS? No. But I still loved them. F.U.C.K. was decent, and Balance was a tad better than F.U.C.K., but definitely not as good as the first 2 Van Hagar albums. While I did get pissed when Sam talked some sh!t about Dave after their tour together, part of that was just a pissing contest between he and Dave. Instead of just ripping Sammy, I think MOST VH fans should be pissed at the Van Halen Brothers. THEY are the reason we haven't had a Dave-VH reunion. Dave clearly and publically made it known he'd do it in a heartbeat. Dave and Sam have continued to make music over the last 5-10 years. Its the VH brothers who haven't done sh!t. While I've never bought a Sam solo album, and never will, I actually don't hate the guy. I have a feeling he KNOWS that this band is falling apart. That Ed really has lost it. But if he can milk this tour for more money, why wouldn't he? I would in his shoes. And really, do you think Dave wants to play with VH again for ANY other reason? I bet 95% of it would be about money. The other 5% would be for the fans. Dave has always been great to his fans. Truth is, the greatest band in the world won't ever play again unless ED finds himself, gets over his addictions, and allows Roth to lead the band again. Until that day (and I am not holding my breath) you may as well think of Van Halen like many do Led Zep, Hendrix, Doors, etc. One of the greatest rock bands of all time, who's career ended early because someone died. RIP Ed. Thanks for 1976-1988. David, call Greg, Billy, and Steve, and bring back what we're all starving for!!!

Most likely. I cant see how you can be a fan of the original and not hate Spammy. They are too dissimilar. One was a ballsy Rock Band, the other a gay pop band.. The reason, Spammy. I hate that gay pop group shit.

Van Hagar is NOT Van Halen, I agree. But Van Hagar, well, the first 2 Van Hagar albums at least, were a hell of a lot better than most "gay pop bands" that put out music during that same period. I mean, in '86 and '88, when they released 5150 and OU812, would you rather listen to that or Poison, Warrent, Winger, and all that other CRAP? I'd NEVER say those 2 albums are better than the first 6, but they were good albums. (important to note, I think EAS was better than 5150 and OU812. Again, my loyalty is to Dave, but I give credit where its due.)

A lot of it is just a rehash of adolesence. Basically, after Roth left the band, you could tell who was a pussy and who wasn't when 5150 came out. That was the mentality back then, anyway.

A bigger part of it has little to do with what Sam did with the band musically, as opposed to the bullshit that comes out of Hagar's mouth when he lying about facts, rather than musical tastes which are subjective anyway.

Essentially boils down to Sammy is just not as good as Dave. As a solo artist or as a frontman for Van Halen. Hagar has no stage presence, has one key he can sing well in (which by coincidence annoys the hell outta me and did long before he was with Van Halen), his lyrics are uninspired and he decided to try and ape Roth's attitude and stage moves, all the while criticizing Roth in the process.

That is totally why I can't stand Hagar.
The stuff he said.. not to mention his looks during the 2002 Dave and Sam tour totally disgusted me.

I don't see how any hardcore fan of Roth can ever side with Sammy, after all the shit that has tumbled out of his mouth over the last 20 years.

Dude Poison and Warrant and even winger were and are cooler and better to listen to than Van Hagar. Give me that. Man I'd Rather listen to the Clash than Van Hagar.
