I can honestly say I've never bought a Van Hagar album. When Dave quit I knew that was the end for me. Never even liked 1984 that much (Jump sounded lame to me) and just bought the first six remasters recently. Being in my twentys at the time I can tell you that anybody that was into VH and had seen them live (has I had) you couldnt imagine what hagar could even bring to it. He was only on the radar screen because of the 55 song, and I akin that to a kid that lived in the same town as me.

He had a Olds cutlass (newer) that he jacked up, put rims on, ect. Not so bad on the surface, but what he did do was paint the big red circle with the slash and the "55" in the middle, on both doors. Lamest thing I ever saw. That image forever is stuck in my mind when I think of hagar, and how I remember him pre-VH......

5150 was ok then it went Crappity-Crap-Crap until Balance which had a couple of moments, and I don't even wanna talk about what happened after that.

i'll admit it. i was too young to see dlr w/ vh. i saw the balance tour when i was 14 or 15 and it was the most goddamn boring thing i have ever seen in my life. i cannot believe there is anybody paying 100+ to see this. a fool and thier money are soon parted indeed...

I bought 5150. Only made that mistake once, Had all the others taped for free. Gave them all a listen more than once.

Every once in a while during Sam Halen Eddie would throw in something halfway decent.I could probably find one or two songs on every album that I could say didn't totally suck.

But a far cry from the 6 pack.

Now I own ZERO Van Hagar albums, although my wife owns 5150 still. (She hardly ever plays it). She's a Bon Jovi freak.
Right... girlfriend forced you eh? LOL In other words you were so PW'ed you endured...

                                Just jackin with ya!!!

This whole thread sounds like recovery testimonial for AA... although to be perfectly frank... I suspect 80% of y'all grew up during Van Hagar and were too young for Roth... now you're in here making amends for your past discretions.

Just be real men or women if you must, but admit you liked Van Hagar at the time and grew up to appreciate Dave, but find it cool to talk tough on a Dave site...
