Dave's stance has been all 4 or nothing. Now that bassplayer has been ruled out of Van Halen, we'll see if he holds true to what he's said all along. So far there still no confirmation that Dave is back in Van Halen.

I suppose the sisters can get Wolfie to play bass, not put aside their differences with Dave and Mike and not agree to the 'if we make a dollar, each of the four of us gets a quarter' principle, thereby retaining 100% control of the Van Halen name and distribution of the profits...

But without Dave there, who is gonna give a shit? Do the Van Halens really have any other cards to play that are gonna generate any serious interest at this point? Dave has a grasp on the realities of the situation, hence the statements he's made to the effect of the public at large just not being able to accept anything these guys are gonna do in the future until they (CVH) reconvene and do this reunion. Personally, I think he's only half-correct, in that on a big-time commercial success scale, the only shot the Van Halens and Roth have left is to get together and do it. After that, they're all gonna go back to low-level interest in terms of current musical projects.

Hiring Roth as a contract employee is just a foolish mentality for the Van Halens to carry, as it presupposes they actually have a future as a commercial rock band entity BEYOND reforming with Roth.

The Van Halens and Roth need each other to whip up a sizeable amount of excitement in what they're doing. Without each other, all they can do is play do their respective dwindling hardcore fanbases.

The only real question left, outside of the Wolfie vs. Mike bass slot business and even beyond Roth resuming frontman duties is the timing issue. Is it all too late? The sisters have been doing fuck all for the last two years. They have a propensity for wasting time. Now here they are diddling around when they should have been in rehearsals w/ Dave 6 months ago and on the road NOW as we speak, not next year.

My feeling is they're gonna keep pissing away time they really don't have, because none of these fuckers are near their prime anymore. And my feeling is that Dave is the only one who really undertsnads this.

Too bad they cant get the original lineup of CVH together...I guess Sam is busy touring and making his big bucks. I dont blame him for not wanting to go back on tour and sing the CVH tunes (Dreams, Amsterdam) but he is making big dollars doing his own thing ....One day though, one day!!
