If Dave/VH would have toured in 1996 they would have been touring on 2 new songs that were used to help sell a compilation.
I just don't understand your logic when it comes to posting.
I would much rather have a band tour with 2 - 3 new tracks than no new music at all.
Recording some new tunes adds some validity to touring.
Dave toured in 2002 with nothing to promote.
If it's going to be 3 new songs VS no new songs I'll take 3 new songs.
The Stones toured in support of their 40 Licks compilation which included 4 new songs.
It's what bands do when they want to hit the road for the summer.
