    Van Halen Sound Scans

Forgive if this has been posted before, searched did not find.

Sammy Hagar- I sold 44 million records with Van Halen

    The numbers don't lie:
    Van Halen- 40 Million
    Van hagar- 19 Million
    Van Disaster- 500,00

    Van Halen – 10X Platinum, (10 Million)
    Van Halen II – 5X P
    Women & Children First – 3X P
    Fair Warning – 2X P
    Diver Down – 4X P
    1984 – 10X P
    5150 – 6X P
    OU812 – 4X P
    FUCK – 3X P
Live – 2X P (so, only a million “copies” sold)
    Balance – 3X P
    III – Gold, (500,000)

    Best Of, Vol. 1 – 6X P (whatever happened to Vol. 2?)
Best Of Both Worlds – Platimum

Sammy may be quoting worldwide sales...which is more than possible with over 19 in US (if you count the Best Ofs)

This does not include returns, damages, theft, lost etc.

He's been lying about this for as long as I can remember and it's been dealt with on this and other boards many times.

Sammy includes the sales of CVH albums whilst he was in Van Hagar.

That's millions of sales of the first 6 albums as fans converted to CD or new people discovered the old stuff. Essential purchases for every rock guitarist from 1985 to 1991 for example.

The prick wasn't even promoting this back catalog live since Van Hagar hardly did any CVH stuff and half the time he goofed around rather than singing.

I did a search on this, sorry-Just thought that since the BB article it need'ed to be addressed. He may be including international numbers, I still don't think it would be 44 million.

No I'm sure International sales wouldn't double his sales.

For a start Europe wasn't interested in Van Hagar, they probably sold less than Roth solo and they only ever did a handful of shows here.

The biggest market for Van Hagar was middle of the road US soccer moms and EVH fanatics who didn't care that he was past it. Maybe Australia and Japan bought some Van Hagar but no way was it over 5 million never mind 25.

As I said he includes Roth era sales made whilst he was in the band.

It seems very dis-ingenius to include those numbers, while he was dissing DLR. It makes you wonder what type of team was guiding this band? One thing bout numbers they don't lie.

I'd have to agree with that guesstimate, not having seen the worldwide figures myself...

So it's roughly 60 million US for all albums released under the name Van Halen, and I'd say MAYBE 70 million worldwide, tops.

No Australian I know bought Van Hagar past 5150.
(Which I put down to mistakenly thinking it was still Dave, or
                bought out of curiousity value.)

Sammy toured Oz not long after his original split with Van Hagar.
He had the tiniest amount of media interest,
(which he used to spew forth hatred of anything Van Halen.)

His tour comprised of half empty PUB's and Bar's...

I did'nt even know who Hagar was, prior to Van Hagar.
Australian radio has never played a Hagar solo tune.

If Australians did purchase some Van Hagar, the overall impact
on total sales figures would be a piss drop in the ocean.

To this day I still have'nt heard, "I cant Drive coz Im over 55"
And Im extremely proud of that fact !!!

III did not even truly go gold... that is a FACT and straight from a WB rep.

They did press and ship 500k, and then some, but they never did nor never will (so many remain in cut out bins discounted down to a few bucks) actually sell gold on the disc.

There is in fact a lot of the Van Hagar era discs still out there floating around in cut out bin land...

The six pack, in all its remastered glory, moves copy after copy on its own merits and at a premium price - and it always will.

vh 3 would have been a way better album if the sisters let mike put his signature backup vocals on it. still, alot of the vocals and lyrics were pretty gay.
