Man in 1996..It seems as if Ed was seeing the light..
"If the American people had ever known the truth about what we (the BCE) have done to this nation, we would be chased down in the streets and lynched." - Poppy Bush, 1992

It's actually too bad they didn't stick with Sam's original lyrics. Then they would have had the perfect title for a Van Hagar "greatest hits" compilation....

Actually, I think DLR would ahve sounded great on Human's Being. Well, at least in the verses anyhow. The chorus I can't hear him singing because it sounds like CEline Dion wrote it.
Source of Infection. Man this song has great energy and of course great guitar playing but the lyrics are just lame as hell. What was Sammy thinkin'? Was he thinking? It's obvious Sammy didn't put much energy into this song. IMHO.
Funny thread at the Links talkin' some lyricisms...
"The sky is turning black/my knuckles are turning white/headed for the hot zone."
"I wanna know you/I wanna see you/you are."
"I can't see your diamond ring through your shining star."--Sammy Hagar
WOW...I can't see your diamond ring through your shining star...Sammy stole that from Dylan Thomas or Bob Dylan!!:D
Originally posted by Bill Lumbergh Those 3 new songs are ALREADY forgotten, yet I STILL hear CASUAL(nowhere near hardcore) VH fans talk about how much they love the 2 96 CVH tunes..........
Those three 2004 tunes were weak even by Van Hagar standards...
Shit, even on Van Halen 3 there were a couple of halfway decent musical ideas on the album, but hearing those 2004 tracks twice each was enough to convince me that Ed was just spent.
I mean, the dude had a 7 year layoff between recording Van Halen 3 and doing the 2004 tracks. Even with the Van Halen 3 tour, the cancer scare, the divorce and all of the other stuff going on, those three tracks were the best he could come up with?

Think the guy is just burnt out.
I agree.
But I don't think Ed really wanted to work with Sammy in the first place -- which may be why he was so uninspired or just tired (or drunk. :D)

Seemed to me that the whole thing got started by Sam calling Alex, with Mike acting as a broker between the two...Ed sure as fuck didn't seem like he wanted to be around Hagar once the tour started, that's for sure!
This a cool subject. I agree about the song Human Beings, it was different from anything they did up to this point. A edge to it.
I really like it and agree its one of the best songs VHager era.
This is the time that Eddie was actually sober, he was great in the 1995 tour . This is the last time it seemed like the whole gang was having a Good time at their craft. The 2004 tour was totally opposite, too much Business it seem. Then the 2 songs with Roth CGEOTS and Me Wise Magic, it felt like the old swagger VH had was back. It was like whoaaa, cant wait for the new album with Roth . What are they going to give us next. Then the shit hit the fan. Oh well . Hopefully we shall see VH in 2007 with Roth. I'll buy a ticket with or without Michael.
