His prototype amp sounds good. Obviousely a hot pre-amp instead of power tube distortion. Sounds like a 5150II crunch channel that has been tweaked to get rid of the buzz and round and thicken the sound out. It doesn't sound like EL-34 tubes but 6L6 GC tubes because EL-34 tend to muddy up the sound if a lot of preamp distortion is used.

I'm betting the new amp isn't really that much different than a 5150 II but it's been revoiced and tweaked more. If they price the amp in the $1,000 range they will sell a lot of them.
