The VH2007 page is a phony.

I sent a private message to the myspace account holder asking who was running the account and received this reply:

"It's 3 people actually. A person from their management, and a couple of others from the label. VH will personally check in from time to time. "


By the way, I tried to post the following comment on their myspace page after they added me, but they declined to approve it:

"Wolfie should be in the opening band with bandmates closer to his own age... call it "Van Halen Next Generation" or whatever... or have Wolfie play some rhythm guitar or perform a guest solo again, but please, for the sake of the faithful fans who have been waiting to see a true classic Van Halen reunion, come to your senses and bring back Michael Anthony on bass. It is what most of the VH fans want to see and hear."


The page was down for a little bit, and Brad Starks posted to the VH yahoogroup that it was not legit, but for now the page is back, and it is adding new friends all the time.

With their use of official songs and artwork, and the fact that they haven't been killed yet despite a lot of scrutiny makes me think it might be somewhat legit.

If they are trying to pass this shit off as "official", they could at least get their facts straight.

Van Halen formed in 1973 when Broken Combs members Eddie Van Halen (guitar, keyboards), Alex Van Halen (drums) and Michael Anthony (bass) were joined by vocalist David Lee Roth......

Now there are two things wrong with that statement. The obvious one is that Eddie never went anywhere near a keyboard in those days. Anyone worthy of creating an "official" page would certainly know the other one.

I assumed they meant Rhino, the people putting out the new Dave only VH greatest hits next next month... but the myspace page also mentions WEA (Warner/Electra/Atlantic)

They were dumped by WB because Eddie turned in a shitty album in 1999 with Cherone, which they wouldn't release, and then they wouldn't finish the album they were making with Dave in 2000-2001.

But that doesn't mean WB won't repackage the old catalog 666 different ways. They DID issue new Van Hagar material on the label in 2004 - if you want to actually count "Upchuck for Breakfast" and the two other cheese coated turds as "music".

This one's an even better deal for WB/Rhino. Every song on the album's already a hit, and with the reunion tour buzz going on, they won't need to spend any money promoting the CD. Pure profit for the corporation (as if AOLTimeCNNWarner actually needed the money)
