The MC5's riff on "Kick out the Jams" was used "ad nauseam" by the 1976-78 so-called punks like "their" one and only guitar riff sequence.
That said, I know the punks' aim wasn't to play finely worked out stuff, but direct, plain, in-your-face rage without any pretentions for skills (maybe they didn't always have the choice). And it's all right.
