I vividly remember such a quote from an interview. I'll have to find the magazine.

Okay, I found it. It's from the August '04 edition of GW with EVH on the cover. EVH: "To have Mike and Sammy back in my life is also huge. I think we've all grown a bit. I know I have. We are tighter, deeper, funnier, and more of a team than ever before. Again, I have to say I'm proud to be a part of it."
