The Grammys were boring...I turned in for the Police and found myself a little less than impressed with the performance...good, but nothing to write home about...
The Eagles medley was fucking God awful...whoever came up with that idea should have been shot on principle alone...NOBODY should do the Eagles BUT the Eagles, PERIOD. I think somebody needs to enact that into law somewhere...penalty for covering the Eagles = immediately dropped from your label or something...
On the one hand, I'm glad there wasn't any Van Halen...on the other hand, is it another blown PR opportunity for a reunion that really isn't generating any real mainstream interest thus far?
Who knows...at this point, I really think the industry doesn't give a shit about anything related to Van Halen anymore...they've had numerous opportunities, predominant among them being 1996, and they've blown it over and over again...and without an original lineup reunion, to the general public I personally think it looks like a case of "half-assed, too little and too late".
All you have to do is compare the frenzy of summer '96 to the relative quiet of winter '07 and the truth is evident. The mainstream music industry used to love Van Halen - anymore, it couldn't apparently care less. The only official announcements of the reunion I heard were here and a few blurbs across several music sites. That's it.
Noticable difference, if you ask me...I really think they're going about this all wrong.

Yeah, I DVR'd it.
"You don't have to put on the red light." Jesus Christ help me, who fucking cares?
I would have loved to have seen Ed blow out the front seat suits with "Intruder" or "Eruption" and then have Dave follow up with "Pretty Woman" or "You Really Got Me."
Or hell, "Unchained." Something with real emotion and energy!!!!!
"Roxanne" opened up the Grammys? Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....
