Yeah...it is kinda sheep-ish. I can't say I blame people...people have been ravenous for this kind of news for years. It's sort of like when a girlfriend that dumped you and treated you like shit says she'll take you back but makes it clear she's in charge. There are those at this site that are thinking, "Fuck Ed...but I'll go see Dave return to Van Halen."

Then there are those that are somehow convincing themselves that this is the best-case scenario...that Mikey deserves it...that he is washed-up...that having Wolfie there is somehow the best thing in the world even though they've never heard him play... And THESE are the real sheep.

I certainly won't shit on anybody for seeing this tour. Hell, I never shit on Van Hagar fans for doing the same. Hell, I saw the band with that asshole. I bought those CDs. It was like consolation-prize thinking. But it was also: "Fuck you, Hagar...and fuck you, Ed...get your shit together and get Dave back in the band." The real SHEEP were the idiots slighting Roth because the band did so, attacking anyone for criticizing the current band and just about buying anything Ed fed them...like Gary Cherone.

I'm seeing some sheep-ish behavior here...

And then some veterans sleeping with the old girlfriend for ol' times sake.

Those fans (the ones that still call Ed the fucking cunt he is) are bringing their rubbers and cab fare, but no expectation of a relationship.

OH...and as for those completely avoiding this tour and bitching about this version of Van Halen, fuck yeah that's totally valid. This is not the original band and it could have been. And the same people that wrote: "VAN HALEN is Dave, Ed, Alex and Mike...nothing less" but are now excited as shit and saying Mike doesn't care...they're the ones most full of shit.

Mind you, I have to admit I was kinda stoked by the pic.

I gotta call bullshit on this one, P-LICKER. Dave has made a ton of fucking mistakes in his career. If he didn't, this would be called the Van Halen Army. He owned that band. And he quit...stupid fucking move...no matter how much the brothers were driving him nuts. Bottom line is, they didn't think they were anything until they got that AOR-spouting asshole in their band to turn them into a watered-down pop band.

Dave has fucked up other things...his Vegas show? I'm sure it was a good show, but it was fucking career suicide.

YOUR FILTHY LITTLE MOUTH was the wrong album at the wrong time.

Not being able to keep Steve Vai in his band.

Doing nothing practically to promote DLR BAND, an album that kicked the ass of VH3. He played almost nothing off this album live and made no attempt to get a record deal. If Sammy could get a deal in '97, why couldn't Dave? He certainly was suddenly in the press more.

Releasing the DIAMOND DAVE covers album instead of the new DLR BAND album that was in the can that Luzier was talking about? These were some apparently smoking tracks, but he puts out inferior covers of SOUL KITCHEN instead?

Touring with Sam? This may have seemed like a good idea, and the tour sold...but it took away his anti-Sam integrity and only added to the public joke this band has become.

And I still think it was partly Dave's fault that some of the later reunions didn't work. (2000?) Yeah, it was Ed's fault too...but again, probably not entirely.

Dave was 100% in the right in '96...but he has also dropped the ball quite a few times.

And we have no reason to believe that he's right on the money with this reunion...

I hope it's good. But that doesn't mean I feel at ease about it...

I already updated Hagar's page and made it very clear how much less he sold than with Dave...I made him sound pretty bad in the Van Halen section, even going so far as to say that since he left, those records don't sell and that era has none of the mystique of the original days.
