I graduated from high school the year VH came out with the first lp. We here in the midwest were deprived of new and decent music. The first time I heard Eruption on KSHE 95 , I was in awe. Only Ted Nugent and Alvin Lee and a few other bands were tearin it up. Van Halen set the new level of style, cool, and music. The punk scene was in full force and the disco pukes were gettin their asses beat in the clubs, but the Eruption that album stirred.... every guy wanted to look like Diamond Dave and every chick wanted to fuck a guy that looked like Dave....hey ...I had blonde hair and I had my share of pussy!
I seen VH in 1979 after the second album was out. Dave was takin hits out of a Jack Daniels bottle on stage from the audience, and smoking who knows what....I waded down to the front row and was just mesmerized by the band.
I am hoping they will come thru St. Louis this year and I can take my son to see them....
