I just said yesterday in another thread how I couldn't imagine Dave sitting there listening to VR do his songs. I think he should go and when the music comes on he should just walk up on stage and take the mic from Scott.

...it sure does look like a typical Dutch thing to RUIN EVERY GOOD THING THAT EVER HAPPENS TO YOU AND OTHER PEOPLE...or in other words: the majority of them (or should I say "us" since I am from the Netherlands myself) are only happy when they are completely miserable.

He has to. He can't tour in his present condition. Unfortunately, his issues won't be able to be resolved quickly. It is going to take some time if he is to dry out. Forget about a tour this year.
