Why is Dave making a big deal about playing?

This honour is for Van Halen so if he cannot play with VH (Ed rehab Alex tounge up Eds ass) then why not sit back chill out watch VR say some nice things about him/them etc then Dave goes and collects the award on behalf of VH.

Then says "Look at all the people" etc and gives us some positive news for the tour.

It will be interesting to see how this all pans out.

Side note on the recent RRHOF hoopla.

IMO this is all hype. RRHOF needs attention. Been reading articles and this thread. Van Halen was the only decent line up of hope for RRHOF, without them, it is going to be 2 1/2 hours of yaaawwwn. Reasoning;

Old fucks like my parents aren't going to be watching the show because of the Ronettes are being inducted.

Not alot of African Americans will watch a show based on ROCK hall of fame just because GrandMaster Flash and the Furious Five will be there. Sounds more like a Hip Hop Hall of Fame. Although GrandMaster Flash, if they perfrom, will now be the show without VH.

All the people that listened to Patti Smith, they're vegetables, killed themselves or are still fucked up on their psych drugs so they won't be watching.

Who the Fuck wants to watch that Aids looking twig Michael Stipe? R.E.M and that type of music slowed down Hard Rocks fast paced movement of the late 70's and 80's with their commercialized music.

Dont even go there. Back then commercialization was the over playing of music on the radio. Today, commercialization is just that, Use of music in commercials and over play of music on radio. You may have your own opinions and definitions on it, as well as other so here is it defined.

Commercialization is defined as introducing a new product into the market.


R.E.M. was around for some time but then they got over played and basically were commercialized by their hits in 87 with 'The One I Love', 'The End of The World' and 'Orange Crush' in 88. That was R.E.M.'s "Commercial Success". The true beginning of R.E.M.

R.E.M. wasn't commercial until they left I.R.S. Records in favor of Warner Brothers at the very end of the 80's.
